Sam Wong | 4 comments I read this book around 2016-2019, and it’s a middle-high school level book. The book is set in a steampunk-esque era I believe. The book seemed to be relatively new, likely published in the 2010s. It might’ve had a female author, but I don’t really remember. It’s an English book, probably published in America. The cover of the book is all black and with dark gray hues, with a bit of pale blue. The title was silver. It had a title similar to Mask of Glass, but that might also not be correct.

The story revolves around a girl with the ability to make multiple faces without using masks, who was found in a world where people cannot make multiple faces and rely on masks to show different emotions. She's found in a boiler room by the person who works there, who sort of takes her in and tells her that she has to wear a glass mask in order to not be persecuted by the authorities of this world. I believe the overarching goal for the main character was to escape this world without getting caught. She meets other people who need masks to show emotions, and she has to conceal her ability from them.
