Allison Ann | 1408 comments I finished The Year Of The Virgins by Catherine Cookson last night. I'm assuming we'll be using it for Y, but I'll post the other options later. I left my little piece of paper somewhere. :) Yes, I have a highly technical way of approaching this challenge - pencil scratchings on tiny scraps of paper that I am constantly losing.

Book - The Year Of The Virgins by Catherine Cookson - 272 pages - 3 stars

Colour - BABYPOWDER

B - character - Bill White
A - character - Annette Allison
Y - title
P - character - Peggie
W - character - Winifred Coulson

Allison Ann | 1408 comments I've been reading over my estimate these last two weeks, but I will be under for the next two weeks for sure. That's why it is called an estimate. :D

They seem to have dissolved a whole team and reallocated them to other stones. Kind of weird for the first week but oh well. Just keep reading everyone, that's all we can do.

message 304: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 3150 comments I finished A Natural History of Dragons (Memoir by Lady Trent, #1) by Marie Brennan but need to double check that I didn't miss any letters. Will update after work.

Also, I should finish The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer today. It's great so far!

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Okay this is freaky, I was just checking our tracking sheet and someone was updating it as I looked - words appearing as if by magic. :) Maybe there are ghosts in my computer.

Also, I edited my The Year Of The Virgins book, there is a B character if we want to use it to finish out the spell.

message 306: by RachelvlehcaR (new)

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 4364 comments Lol, it was me Allison. I updated it and added in our official spreadsheet. We are doing well. I'm working on a B Character now but if someone finishes a book that fits it before I do I'll use their book. :)

Allison Ann, I think it's best if we use your book for Y in Spell out 3.

Okay, I'm off to read!

message 307: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Since it is April Fools and not Hallowe'en, I didn't really think it was a ghost. ;)

I need an O title for another challenge, so I've been trying to find one to read this week. All the ones I haven't read yet from my library seem to be in the middle of series I haven't started. I hate reading out of order.

Have a great day everyone.

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 4364 comments Awesome job everyone! We have 325 points! We are half way through our third spell out of baby powder. We have our white covered book, one BotM DQ, and our extra points for the first spell out. I have my next BotM DQs due on the 4th. That will be another 20 points for DQs.

Have a good evening everyone. :)

message 321: by Allison Ann (new)

Title - Above the Bridge by Deborah Garner with 240 pages.

This book didn't do it for me. It was overly descriptive and nothing really happened for the first 1/3 of the book.

message 323: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 910 comments Finished another book that I should have read a long time ago!

Author: Gaston Leroux
Pages: 360

A: character-Armand
P: title-Phantom
O: character-Opera Ghost
D: character-Christine Daae'

I did not feel that it was cheating to list Opera Ghost as a character because he is referred to as "the Phantom," "Opera Ghost," and "Erik" interchangeably thoughout the novel.

I will finish one more book before the end of the week which is good for B,A,P,W,D,E,or R.

Cheryl | 910 comments Oh man!!! That word does nothing for the books I was needing to get read next week!

message 339: by Cheryl (last edited Apr 03, 2015 09:54PM) (new)

Cheryl | 910 comments I will be reading a non-fiction book again this week. It will only work for either "E" or "C." Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony A Friendship That Changed the World by Penny Coleman.

My second book will work for "L," "I," or "O." Of Love and Shadows by Isabel Allende.

I will read Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline, which may only be an "O" or a "C." It is difficult with shorter words that are mostly vowels!

message 340: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (govmarley) | 3150 comments My many Agatha Christies will help us cover the 2 C's. I'm sorry I can't finish anything tonight. Just popping in on a break to say hi and happy reading!

Rachel thanks for all of your hard work with the spreadsheets and shelves. You are great.

message 341: by Allison Ann (new)

Allison Ann | 1408 comments Guess we can't quite finish a fourth spelling of BABYPOWDER? I've got one to post now and could finish one more by tonight, but maybe I'll just read ahead in some LICORICE books instead. I've got some L and I books I've been hanging on to that will work.
