liatheloser A place to share sapphic books that aren’t all romance, wether they have sapphic mc or even just sapphic side characters! (i’ve said sapphic too much, sorry 🙃)

(Please add the genre of whatever book you suggest!)

omniscient Trees | 14 comments The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson is political first. The main character is a total disaster.

Chlorine by Jade Song also probably qualifies because the main character isn't as attached to the girl who loves her as the other is in her occasional POV letters, despite both being sapphic.

Viv | 4 comments Fried green tomatoes at the whistle stop cafe-10/10 an amazing historical fiction

Fatima | 15 comments Blood Cypress. It’s a thriller horror that isn’t too on the eye bloody but chilling. It’s pretty short. The main character is sapphic but it’s not romance based. Homophobia does play a part in the story through.

Lex | 63 comments Everyone in this Room Will Someday Be Dead (litfic), The Happy Couple by Naoise Dolan (litfic with a bi woman in a straight relationship), Bad Company by Sarah Dreher (mystery)

Emily M | 33 comments Ooh, this is my wheelhouse, since I rarely read romance novels!

The Gilda Stories - Adventures of a black lesbian vampire over 2 centuries
The Night Watch - WWII historical fiction, told backwards
Women of the Silk - Historical fiction about women silk workers in 1930s China (and also the MC falls in love w/ one of her co workers)
Affinity - Spooky book about a sad Victorian lesbian and an imprisoned spiritualist
The Space Between Worlds - Alternate world hopping sci-fi
The Color Purple - Classic that has a love story in there but is more about escaping abuse, surviving racism, and loving yourself
Ammonite - Sci-fi about a planet that has killed all men, and the women-only human society that emerges (note: This is an older book author seems to have forgotten or not known trans people exist, but the story doesn’t seem actively hostile to them)
Our Wives Under the Sea and The Worm and His Kings - horror
The Luminous Dead - horror with a happier ending
Clear and Muddy Loss of Love / 泾渭情殇 - There’s a central romance here between a princess and a barbarian but most of the book is pseudo-Chinese court politics and “do I still want revenge?” stuff
A Master of Djinn - Steampunk Cairo magical mystery

Macy Merrill | 2 comments To The Bone by Alena Bruzas is a decent read set in colonial Jamestown during the Starving Times. It has corporal punishment, cannibalism, and tension with Native peoples. It gets a little gory but nothing that will keep you up at night, at least from my perspective.

Six of Crows nerd | 12 comments Messy Perfect by Tanya Boteju is a YA sapphic contemporary book. It is very well written and quite an enjoyable read. The main character does have a crush on someone, but it is not the main focus of the story.

emma ☽︎ (myladyofmercy) | 5 comments the romance in lucky red doesn’t start until like 2/3 into the book and it’s also not very drawn out. it is a western so it has to be your cup of tea but the mc is really the main focus of the book and the romance is kind of a side plot in the grand scheme of it. plus there’s a great plot twist ;)

Loreee | 6 comments Jane Doe and the Cradle of All Worlds This is a book series, the first one could be considered straight passing whereas the second and thrid include some romance here and there. They´re mostly adventure
