All the blurbs where other authors say this is arguably Tim Lebbon's best book yet are not hyperbole. It was THAT good.
And I had the pleasure of meeting Tim at AuthorCon a couple months ago and he was super friendly and nice as can be. I regret not buying more books from him.

Same for me, bought some books and had a short discussion with Tim at Authorcon. Great guy.
I'm only 50 pages in but the story has already gone in an unexpected direction and I'm loving it.

I'm curious timeline-wise how close after the apocalypse scenario this is and why you chose to keep so much of "the grid" intact. That is in no way a criticism! Being able to drive a car and use your cellphone would be super helpful in the post-apocalypse, I just very rarely encounter books in which these things are still available and I am curious what drove the choice to have that. Or is it more climate upheaval, but not a disintegration of power grids, etc. yet, and the blurb that says "post-apocalypse" is just messing with my head and making me overthink.
Also I love the concept of building the apparatus and the method of Rainmaking... so cool.

Thanks Alan, it was good to meet you, and so pleased you enjoyed the book.

Thanks Hayley! Hope you enjoy it as much. Different type of book but it has thematic links.

Hope you like the rest of it!

Hi Hayley, I think the term probably isn't quite suitable for this book, it's more a case of it being set maybe 15 or 20 years in the future after we've passed the 'tipping points' that are presented as points of no return for climate catastrophe. It's happening now all over, I just emphasised some of the effects we're already seeing and wondered what would happen if it led to crop disaster and drought in the US (as well as elsewhere).

I found it an original and interesting combo of post apocalypse, magical fantasy & flash back to the dust bowl of the past. Lots of fun!
