SOLVED. Middle School Fantasy book series about a boy who explores the dreaming world while asleep and travels on a magical train by two authors. [s]

So yeah, I can't remember what this book is, but I do know it was a book meant for middle school to teenage children, and that I read it circa 2013 give or take 2-3 years. There were two authors, and at least 3 books at the time, and I think the series either still is, or at the time at least, was unfinished, and the authors had taken a hiatus from the series.
The series itself is about a young boy who is capable of exploring the dreaming world where he meets all sort of people who essentially manage what's more or less the dream bureaucracy, and becomes an agent of said bureaucracy. There's also a train I'm pretty sure, though that I'm less sure on.
