It is a short chapter book that is either juvenile or YA it is fantasy. It is about a young girl who has magic powers just like her aunt but doesn't want to accept them. She has a small invisible friend that she can talk to and won't leave until she accepts her powers and recieves a familiar. She has a friend that she has a crush on but she finds out he's been abandoned by his family. She meets another guy a school and turns out he has magic powers like her and accepted his so his familiar is a lizard he introduces her to a group of others like them. She also has a bully at school that she stands up too and accepts her powers. In the end she helps her abandoned friend by turning him into a bird and setting him free. When she accepts her powers the invisible friend leaves and she meets a cat as her familiar.
