Action/mystery with some romance and possible KGB backstory of parents. Child, now adult is on the run because of KGB ties. Possibly published in 80s/90s but I read probably late 90s early 00s

Honestly, I don't know if what I remember will help anyone. I'm looking for a book that I read when I was younger probably late 90s/early 00s. I can't remember many details but hopefully someone out there knows what I'm talking about 😅. Here's what I remember:
-The book was probably published in the 80s or 90s
- it has some romance but not focal point
-its maybe tied to a parent that used to be a KGB agent and the child(now an adult) is trying to solve the mystery of the parent
-I honestly don't know if I'm remembering this part correctly but i think they're on the run a lot and having to fight against people who are after the main character because of the KGB ties to the parents
-I believe it is a female/male couple lead and they do hook up in the book
-adult fiction more than likely
-RED lol 😆 honestly the word red keeps popping up in my head, idk if it has that word in the title or if it's because I remember that the book has a red and black cover
-the cover prob has a lot of similar vibes/look to the old cover for John Lawton's Old Flames

If anyone has any clue please let me know! I've been thinking about this the last couple of days and been trying to Google search but so far nothing. I'd appreciate the help!

Brothers by Michael Bar-Zohar may be a possibility. Not sure it's your book but it was:
-published 1993
-has two brothers, one in the KGB, one in the CIA
-CIA brother is not exactly on the run but does have to keep a watch out for KGB agents
-older KGB male agent who may or may not be a father
-some romance between parents of the brothers and some romance between CIA brother and his wife

It's kind of a long shot but let us know if we can rule it out.

Have you checked all the Tom Clancy books? He wrote many books with the Cold War as the background.

KY i went to go take a look at his books and some of his older covers and nothing. It really does feel like needle in a haystack lol

@amy thanks for the suggestion and not on there either. I think the KGB thing was more like something they found out later on in the book. But I'm looking through a bunch of.different places lol at this point I'm like eh lol maybe it's not meant for me to find lol

@kajehas that is a really great suggestion! The couple in the book I'm trying to remember didn't know each other before though. But I'll look to see if I can get other similar books recommended from that one to see if it'll help. But really good suggestion, thanks!
