Y/A Sci-Fi. An early reader chapter book (for 2nd-5th grade level) a girl in space

She travels to different locations, she had a small orb creature (who potentially looked like Kirby?) that accompanied her as well as a larger group. I think she had pigtails, and it was a series. I also remember one scene where they were at a massive wall trying to scale it or something? Would have read it between 2004-2010.

The Akiko books by Mark Crilley? There was a comic books series as well as a chapter book series. The first chapter book is Akiko on the Planet Smoo.
