Jane (PS) | 24334 comments 1. Introduce yourself to your team. Definitely let your team members know where you are from. This is a 'nice to know' when categories are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Pick a Team Captain. The team captain will track the books read by the team and double-check that your book selection complies with the rules - eg make sure that the selection and completion posts are as per the formatting and information requested below (msg 3).

Anyone is free to ask questions in the Q&A/Announcement thread - here. If you are unsure, please ask.

Once a Captain has been decided, the Team Captain should reserve a couple of posts in this thread to track their team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert one of their chat comments to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. This is not mandatory, but it is fun. Given we are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 18 March.

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2.

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* please don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you except to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A/Announcement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.

The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week Option 2 has altered and I will be allocating each team another team from which their book selection must be chosen :)

message 3: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Key selection and completion post information. You must have ALL elements in your book posts.

For the initial selection post Option 1 I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies - please insert a link to the qualifying bookshelf/list.
If the theme is based off the bookcover or a letter in the title etc, please just repeat the theme.

For the initial selection post Option 2 I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.

For the completion post I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)
Review

Please DO NOT CHAT in these selction/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.

If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I'll be tracking each team's progress separately, using the Captain's summary in each team's thread to check for accuracy.

A summary chart will be posted in the last week to let teams know their progress against other teams :)

Calila | 2746 comments Oh! So just a fair warning, when it comes to Option 2. I mainly read only M/M so just keep that in mind when it comes to picking who you want to use for that option, if you aren't comfortable reading that. I'd say 99% of my books are M/M.

message 9: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments I pick YOU Calila!! You can pick me! I read 100% M/M. :)

message 10: by Rosina (new)

Rosina Hey Shannon....

Dang it I was late and missed the post of names....

Im all good with Calila being captain.....

Ive never played so don't be surprised when I asked something that is blatantly obvious....

M/M I have read one book so far and enjoyed...Do you know of any UF or PN that are M/M cause those types of stories I like...just haven't found them or I probably would read more...

There's tons of PN M/M out there.

Only one UF comes to mind, but I'm sure there's more. House of Stone.
oooooh this is a good trilogy - Skin Deep Heartsong Unforgiven

I'm also really horrible at judging what fits into which category/genre.

Here's a couple of lists -

M/M Urban Fantasy

Best Gay Paranormals

Best Gay Fantasy Romance - Not necessarily UF

message 12: by Rosina (new)

Rosina Thanks I will look and see what I can get to read

message 13: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 1259 comments Hey Calilia!!! Hey Shannon!!! Hi, Rosina, Lynne and Amy. Everyone just calls me Anna. I'm good with you being Captain, go for it! I'm excited to play another round. I've played all the rounds so far also. It's just one of my favorite challenges. :)

message 14: by Lynne (last edited Mar 12, 2015 09:22PM) (new)

Lynne (lovetoreadgal) | 1182 comments Hey Everyone! I can't tell you how sad I am that I missed the name suggestion that got deleted! I could have used a good laugh. I've done a couple of challenges before so I'm looking forward to this one. Hi Calilia, we were teammates once before. You did a great job then being the captain and I'm totally cool with you doing it again. If we were a bunch of always late people we could be called The Eleventh Hour. Or in keeping with the package idea (still wishing I knew what that name suggestion was that got deleted) we could be The Total Package.

message 15: by Lynne (new)

Lynne (lovetoreadgal) | 1182 comments Wait, I read it again and saw the What a Package reference. I'm totally bummed. That's a great name!

message 16: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments LOL - I'm Shannon would be happy to repeat them (not much encouragement is EVER needed in that direction!) however hopefully she'll just PM them to you :)

...They aren't that bad - its just that we can't control who looks at this stuff (open group profile) so I'd rather err on the side of cautious and not get in trouble :D

message 17: by Lynne (new)

Lynne (lovetoreadgal) | 1182 comments Looking forward to a fun group!

message 18: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments lmao, I would totally PM them to everyone if I could remember what they were! I know all three were technically clean but Jane has a filthy mind so she went straight to the dirty stuff.

I do remember I used the words Package, Box and Load. lol

message 19: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments Calila, I'll delete all my posts at the beginning so you can have them. They don't make much sense anyways seeing how Mistress Jane snatched my fun away! (*giggle* I said snatch)

message 20: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments I get confused with the different genres of fantasy so explain to me what Urban Fantasy is and I'll tell you if I've read any great ones! :P

LOL you just can't help it can you? I love it! My brain lives in the gutter anyway. =P

Also thanks...I really only need one post so I'll just re-purpose my first "intro" post.

message 23: by Calila (new)

Calila | 2746 comments So right now we're just waiting for Amy to check in. (Not rushing just keeping track for myself.)

And we have three suggestions for names so far....

What A Package (okay'd by Jane(PS))
The Eleventh Hour (Though I hope that could be ironic lol)
The Total Package

message 24: by Lynne (last edited Mar 13, 2015 01:14PM) (new)

Lynne (lovetoreadgal) | 1182 comments I like the "what a package!" I think it would make Jane(PS) very nervous to have us be the Eleventh Hour ...

Do we know when we're getting the theme assignment and can start reading? I always get nervous to start something new in case I could have/should have used it for the up-coming round.

message 25: by Calila (new)

message 28: by Rosina (new)

Hi All - Sorry to be the very last to check-in. This will be my first parcel challenge and am really looking forward to it. I'm with Lynne on wishing I hadn't missed all the team name suggestions. Given the laughs out of the follow up conversation I can only imagine what fun the names would have been. I'm afraid I probably would have thought of the dirty meaning first as well, so it appears there is no hope for our team on that front.

"What a Package" works for me.

Calila - Thank you for offering to be our captain!

I'm looking forward to being on such a great team :-)

I've never read any M/M but am always looking to expand my reading experiences. Like Rosina, I love PN so would probably end up reading something from that genre.

message 33: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 1259 comments I like the what a package and the total package as team names. I think they are fun and amusing! I'm ready to start. :)

message 34: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments I'm good with any of the names 'cause I'm easy like that. :)

Ooooh, we can start early if everyone gets checked in! Yay!!
