bamaace83 | 1259 comments Is our book due tomorrow? I will read tonight! My dad came into town for March madness and we went to basketball games so I didn't read much this weekend.

MountainKat | 31599 comments I seem to answering questions this morning =) It's either that or get up and get moving!

No, you don't have to finish your book by tomorrow. The next theme will be announced on Friday and you just can't get two books behind. Once the new theme is called, you can't change your book or claim the pass - you have to read it to count for the challenge. That is why it is good to try to stay current, so you can DNF if you absolutely hate what you selected. In the last week of the challenge, speed does matter, so it is good not to be behind by then though.

Hi MountainKat

Thanks for the explanation. I should have the book finished tomorrow just no internet access to post the review. It's good to know that there is a little flexibility in the schedule. Thank you also for the tips on how best to manage everything!

Rosina Week #1
Bookcover/link: Craving Constellations (The Aces, #1) by Nicole Jacquelyn by Nicole Jacquelyn
Page numbers 212
How the book qualifies - Precis states five years later she's running from her clean cut husband straight back to the motorcycle club that raised her

Rating (1-5): 4.5★
I loved this book. First time reading MC book. I have shied away from them because of the possible violence. This was actually not what I was expecting, it was so much more. I felt that it could really happen and I felt like I was right there with them. I was hooked from the first page, couldn't put it down.
This book also deals with the the troubling issues of domestic violence and the emotional trauma that is so devastating. Brenna is a strong willed woman who wants the picket fence and a 9 to 5 husband. She has spent her she life as part of a MC club. She has seen lots of illegal activity and violence that she wants to escape. What she didn't know was that the grass is not always greener on the other side. The man she marries beats her. She and her little girl run back to the life she knew for sanctuary. She meets her little girl's father, Dragon who is a club member and had a one night stand with Brenna.
I will definitely be continuing with the series. Looking forward to Grease and Casper getting their share of a story.

Bama(i'm just gonna call you that for short, is that okay?) I think you need to make a selection post with the week #, title url, how it fits. THEN make a completion post with week #, book url, rating, and review.

Two posts, not just one.

Welcome to Sugartown
by Carmen Jenner

Page number: 255 (kindle edition)

How the book qualifies: Heroes in Motorcycle Clubs - https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...

Rating (1-5): ★★★★

Review: Oh my. Let me say it again, oh my. The cover suggests a nice, simple story. The precise suggested an uncomplicated story about two young lovers too. However, the story was anything but simple. Elijah has a dark complicated past that crashes into his present with devastating impact. The impact it has on Ana is huge and quite unexpected.
This story is probably not for the faint hearted since there is some very unpleasant events in it. If you can get past that, the relationship that grows between Elijah and Ana is beautiful. It's also supported by the changing attitudes of Ana's friends and family over the course of the book.
I liked that all the characters in the book developed, rather than being 'filler'. I also appreciated the twists in the story that were unexpected and I liked that the conflict resolution was paced well. What I struggled with, and why I couldn't give the story 5 stars, is that a lot of the story is told through explanations rather than dialogue. So I always felt slightly removed from the story.
Not what I was expecting a all but I enjoyed reading the book.

bamaace83 | 1259 comments Completed Week 1: Devil's Game Joanna Wylde

4 stars

Review: I found this book by chance when I typed in motorcycle into the search for ebooks at the library. Now, I got myself pretty hooked and am going to have to find the others since they aren't online. Overall, I really liked the story. First, there is Hunter who is a Devil's Jack. Then there is Em who is the daughter of a member of the Reapers. The story follows the twist and turns of what it's like to have a hot attraction to someone that you just aren't suppose to have anything to do with. I loved the fun banter between the main two characters. Great book! I'm going to find the rest this weekend if I can.

This really bugs me when I'm reading M/F, but really only when the heroine is plus-sized, but the cover is a super skinny chick. It's happened so many times i just quit looking at the covers for the most part.

Calila | 2746 comments So since the first week is up, I just wanted to point out the posting format before we get our new category today.

Jane has posted examples of the formats in Post 3. A few of you guys when posting your completions posts also include all the selection post info(How it qualifies, page #s, url w/*(for me)) and you don't have to. Just the week #, title link, rating and review is all that is required for the completion post.

I don't mean to be nitpicky (if I am, totally tell me, I'll stop.), it's just extra "work" for yourselves to include all that you don't have to do and I'm lazy personally so the less "work" the better. Either way works really, so do it whichever just know you don't have it is my point I guess.

Hi Calila - I don't think you're being 'nitpicky'. It's nice to know that I don't have to include all that information. Now that I have a working keyboard again, it wouldn't matter so much but yesterday when I was trying to do it with the touchscreen on my tablet - that was frustrating and embarrassingly hard. I felt a little like my parents must have felt when I was explaining how to use a cell phone! :-)

Calila | 2746 comments Week 2

Option 1 Theme:
10. Teacher/student romance (stated in the precis or shown on listopia or shelf) - does not require both MCs to be a teacher &/or student. One MC as either is sufficient.
Optional lists:
Student Teacher Professor Romance
Best Teacher Student Romance
Teacher Student Relationships?
Teacher Student Romance 2014
Teacher Student Romance shelf
Teacher Student shelf

Option 2 Key Date:
31 October 2014

Please ensure you follow the format shown in msg 3 of your team threads.

The lists included in the theme option are... optional :) If the blurb on the book's GR page clearly shows or mentions that the MC is a teacher or a student you can use this for 'How It Fits'. You may also use lists and shelves that clearly indicate that 'teacher' or 'student' is a theme.

Love is a Stranger (More Heat Than the Sun, #1) by John Wiltshire Love is a Stranger
Rating: ★★★
Review: I had a hard time getting through this one for the first 60% then it really picked up and things started getting interesting. These two were having waaay too much sex and not a bottle of lube in sight. Not once! Poor guys. Ben was just Ben, what you see is what you get. Nik however, not so much. Nothing about him was the truth. So if you're in love with someone who's not real, are you really in love with them? Hmmm. Not sure if I'll continue with the series but it's possible.

Aminko | 653 comments Week 2 – Completion:

The Hook Up

Rating: ★★★★★

Review:
One of the things that always makes me a little hesitant to read romance stories about people in their early 20's is the angst. Sometimes, the emotional turmoil is too much for me. I think this may be because it's closer to real life than I like to admit. This hesitancy on my part has nothing to do with the quality of writing. It's more about why I choose to read romance novels. Kristen Callihan has done an amazing job in writing this wonderful story, balancing the angst nicely for me. Her characters both go through their own inner search for a better self without tearing my heart out along with theirs. Her characters resolve the conflict by understanding themselves better, strengthening the relationship, which makes the angst worthwhile. It also doesn't hurt that there is lots of sex to be had as well.

Just like last week's book (Welcome to Sugartown) the supporting characters are wonderful. Given this is book 1, I’m looking forward to hearing more about their development too. I always like to discover something unique in the books I read and this one offered an interesting gem. One of the supporting characters, George compared desire to a pimple….

Calila | 2746 comments Week 2: The Walls of Troy

Rating: ★★

Review: I do not understand why I am apparently incapable of not not reading this author. I know better! It's generally more miss than hit and yet the blurbs always suck me in! This one was a struggle. There was such potential but the characters just didn't work for me, nor did the plot. So Troy is being threatened but he won't fess up to who is doing it or why, so his dad calls in favors and gets him a bodyguard, who promptly knows right away that something more is going on than just what Troy will say. And of course happens to fall for him even though he knows he shouldn't. That's where all the angst comes from. Not the stalker. Not the threats. Not the lies. It's all "We shouldn't do this. *make out* We really shouldn't do this. *has sex* This is a super bad idea. *makes out and has sex*" It's SO IRKSOME! You are over 30. MAKE A DECISION AND JUST ACCEPT THE CONSEQUENCES. The waffling is never a good look. Stalker turns out to be Troy's obsessed ex because DUH. There were a couple of a pluses that I did appreciate. I did like that Troy's military dad was just fine with Troy being gay. That's always nice. And I did like that Iskander gets his butt kicked twice by the stalker. I get tired of the super macho indestructible he-man.

TL;DR - I NEED TO BREAK UP WITH THIS AUTHOR BUT I AM WEAK.
