Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments After reading a friend's review of the 1st book in Joanna Wylde's MC series I never read the first one so I couldn't say. However, "Motorcycle Man" sounds really good and I love SE Jakes too. Hmmmm, tough decision! If I read m/f I'd be tempted by the first one for sure.

You can start reading once the category is called and you pick your book.

I do own one and not the other, and I'm thinking NB could still be picked for me in the GB so maybe hold off on it. idk yet.

Calila | 2746 comments Okay I decided...

Week 1: Motorcycle Man
487 pages/GR
How It Fits: Blurb - "The tattooed, muscled biker"

message 75: by Calila (last edited Mar 18, 2015 10:44PM) (new)

Calila | 2746 comments Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh ohhhhh guys I forgot something!!!

When you post your book choice, can you include the book link with an * so I can just c/p and not have to search GR for it? Pretty please? (This is separate from what Jane requires, so just at the bottom of the post would be perfect.)

If you've already posted for the week, don't worry about it this time.

Example:

Without * - Motorcycle Man
With * - [*book:Motorcycle Man|13448656]

Calila | 2746 comments Week 1: Motorcycle Man

Rating: ★★★★

Review: Oh my god I hate that I actually liked this book. Tank was an epic douchenozzle and yet I still liked him. Tyra was annoying in her own way, and yet I liked her. The supporting characters were great. My one major issue is that Tyra was always talked out of her opinions/thoughts on how she should be treated. Tank treated her with little to no respect at times, and every time it happened it was "*shrugs* I am who I am". Tyra made all the concessions, which left it feeling very unbalanced. And yet I still really enjoyed it. Inexplicable.

Oh.My.God. I picked a book with 568 pages? Kim Dare wrote a book that's 568 pages? wth? Okay, this could actually take me the whole week! lol

Just looked and someone entered the page number wrong! Like I would have picked it had I know. It should be 560 not 378 but...that's probably a good thing. I'm liking it and definitely wouldn't have picked it up had I known. :/

Review: Okay, I'll admit that I actually whined because it had seemed like I'd been reading forever and I looked and saw I was only 20% in. What? Well the wrong page count was on GR and at the old 378 pages I thought I was losing my mind. However, after seeing it was actually 560 pages...okay, that makes sense. Was I whining because I was bored? Oh hell no. It was fantastic. I knew it was great because I spent the entire book pissed off at how shifters were treated in the world created here. Bayden just broke my f'ing heart! He was trying so very, very hard to be perfect but he just didn't understand what he was and wasn't supposed to do because his life had been so different from anything he'd experienced since he'd met Axel. It was truly heartbreaking. And Axel, sweet, giant, domineering Axel. Bayden couldn't have found a better man for him. The whole book was just so interesting and frustrating and hot and sweet and...well, you get it. Loved it!!

Lynne (lovetoreadgal) | 1182 comments Week 1 – Completed:
Bookcover/link: [*book:For You|10813480] by Kristen Ashley
Rating (1-5): ★★★★
Review: I really enjoyed this story and its very length gives you an incredibly in-depth immersion in these characters, the events, and the people in their lives. Yet, that very length always makes me hesitate to take on another book by Kristen Ashley. The story was creepy and intense, but again, the length of the book mitigated the level of emotion. That’s why I didn’t give it a five stars. This title also doesn’t fit the category of “Bikers” at all. I found it on three different biker shelves and I don’t know what people were thinking when they put this title there. Other than passing comments about the supporting characters riding, there was no riding at all. Disappointing.

message 91: by Lynne (new)

Lynne (lovetoreadgal) | 1182 comments After 583 pages, do you think I need to re-read? I don't think it met the category AT ALL, but I went into it with good faith. Jane?

Calila | 2746 comments Lynne wrote: "After 583 pages, do you think I need to re-read? I don't think it met the category AT ALL, but I went into it with good faith. Jane?"

As long as it was on a qualifying list, regardless of if it fits, it should be fine.

message 93: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments Oh holy crap, I would beat someone's ass if I read a book that long and had to read something else. lol

message 94: by Lynne (new)

message 95: by Calila (new)

Calila | 2746 comments Okay just looked through the Q&A, You're good Lynne.

"Q: What happens if a book is mis-shelved?
A: If books have been incorrectly shelved, they still count for that round. (I would appreciate them being removed if it is an RRRC shelf AFTER the round is finished.)"

Aminko | 653 comments Hi Ladies

I'm assuming the deadline is tomorrow?!

I'm traveling tomorrow and may not have internet access until close to midnight EST in America. Do I need to aim to finish Welcome to Sugartown tonight or can I post in the wee hours of Wednesday morning?

message 99: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31599 comments Hi Amy, I'll answer for Jane or your group since I'm here. You don't need to finish your book in the week it was posted, you just can't get more than two books behind. In the end, time matters so you want to be current then though. What is required each week is that you make your selection or claim the pass before the next theme is posted, once the next theme goes up you have to read the book selected and can't change your mind. That is one reason why it is good to stay current so if you want to DNF a book, you can.
