Review:
I really really wanted to like this book, but in the end I just didn't. It was barely OK. The writing was utilitarian but it was the characters and the storyline that just left me defeated.

Review: I actually liked this one. Good plot although the conspiracy elements are underdeveloped and there are one or two huge leaps in logic that lack foundation. The romance is enjoyable and the reactions of the hero and heroine are believable given the circumstances. I'm interested enough to continue the series.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments I'm so glad you liked it, Lauren! I'm not sure what set me off about the characters, but I didn't care for either of them and didn't care what happened to them.

And thanks for the pick!! It'll work for my other team challenge as well!!

It reminded me of Perfect (Second Opportunities #2) by Judith McNaught and Unlawful Contact (I-Team, #3) by Pamela Clare although both of those are better

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments I've never read Judith McNaught, but I loved the I-team series. I can see why it would remind you of that one. I'll have to look into the other book!

Judith McNaught is fantastic. Her historical romances were some of my very first forays into the genre and part of the reason I'm hooked on them.

Review: I enjoyed this book. The MC is running from an abusive relationship. She runs to her uncles boat unaware that two men own the boat now. The two men help her heal and trust again. I felt the book was to long. There was a lot of filler. I felt the plot could have moved faster.

Ok, I will move Judith McNaught up on my to-read list. Not sure how I've missed her all these years of reading historical romance.

Picked by Lisa.

Review: Tedious. The hero and heroine lack even the minutest amount of chemistry and the author has spread herself thin with numerous storylines, none of which are particularly suspenseful. Not a series that I will be continuing.

Time to Upsize Time to Upsize (The Indignities) by Graeme Aitken
Finished May 27
Rating 2 stars

There are a bunch of egos in the book that are looking for Self aggrandizement. The only two redeeming factors of the book are that it was set in Australia so got a mini virtual vacation and that I got it for free. I can delete from my kindle and forget all about it.

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments about 40% done with Grif's Toy (Tease and Denial, #1) by Joseph Lance Tonlet Grif's Toy and surprised giving the subject matter how much I am enjoying it. I never thought I would enjoy a book where a good part of the relationship is that one love to humiliate and the other loves to be humiliated. this was the push I needed to read it. also if it wasn't clear how much they actually love each other when not indulging in this fetish I would be trying to find a different recommendation because if it was all about humiliation especially public humiliation I would not be able to read it. but as it is a part of a complicated relationship I can better handle it.

message 266: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments I'm glad that the author is handling the subject matter so well, and that you are enjoying your book, Roger.

This was one of my favorites in the series. Sometimes favorites do not stand up as well to re-reads.

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments Week 10: Grif's Toy

5/28/15 3.75 stars

for the reason mentioned above while I enjoyed the book a lot it still dealt with a subject that while handled beautifully I am not all that fond of so even getting 3 stars would be an accomplishment. I am so sick of the Coincidental meeting of two people who have apposite parts of the same fetish. I just think that I would like to see some struggle to be comfortable with what is not a common fetish. also there were a few minor editing error that grated on me.

Thanks for the push Lisa.

message 270: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Lauren, I remember it being one of my favorites as well! I think it didn't stand up to the test of time because I read it right after reading a ton of Nalini Singh's Psy-changeling books. But it only lost 1 star. I still really liked it.

message 271: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (mooselover) | 2724 comments Roger, Grif's Toy was the first SPH book I read. Normally, I stay well clear of humiliation books. In fact the only book I DNF'd was a humiliation book.
I think what worked for me was that it was consensual humiliation with both partners getting off on it.
I still want to read book 2 though which is Wes's story.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
Rating: 5 stars
Review: While this book frustrated me and had me screaming at a couple of characters, I couldn't put it down. It started as a solid 4 for me, as I really enjoy Hoover's writing style. However, at 85%, my world changed with this book. I was so glad I hadn't written this story off as just another really good one. Wow, what a conclusion. Quite pleased with the wrap-up of it all.

Lots of sexy times and also a good story of the guys trying to locate Craig.
This book also see the appearance of what is to be James's love onterest. Looking forward to the next book as the guys mix with the characters from the Texas series.
