1970s Fantasy (series?). Main character named Bryn/ Bran, antagonists called the old ones. Set in Wales?

my dad is looking for a book or series of books he read as a young boy. these are the main details he remembers, does this ring a bell for anyone?

he says it was urban fantasy with time dropping elements set in a more modern time period, likely in Wales. even if it doesn’t exactly fit this mold, if you have an idea, let me know!!

Susan Cooper's The Grey King and Silver on the Tree, part of her Dark is Rising series, feature a boy called Bran. There are "Old Ones", although Bran is an ally of these in resisting the Dark powers. Both are largely set in Wales and feature time travel.
