Max nodded, content now that he knew what she'd been doing. He still couldn't help but glancing over at her every now and again as she twirled the lock of grass around her fingers.

She went off the path real quick to pick a few small purple flowers. She started tying stems together making a flower crown. She smiled slightly setting it on Max's head. "There. it brightens your appearance a little. And it really brings out your eyes" She giggled a bit
Max's brows wrinkle into a frown as she runs off the path that they were walking, then raised as she comes back with the flowers. He watches in mild interest as she ties the stems to the grass. He sidesteps away from her as he realizes what she was doing, but didn't manage to avoid it being placed on his head. He glared at her, not removing it, but couldn't help but smile a little. He quickly looked away to cover it.
She laughed a little louder "You know. It won't kill you to smile a bit. My mom always warned me if I never smiled my face would always be glued into a frown and I'd never be able to smile. "
Max studied her for a moment, then looked away, making sure that no trace of the smile that wanted to break free showed. He said nothing and went back to studying the road and land around it, totally forgetting about the crown of flowers that he wore.((I have to go eat hotel breakfast. I shall be back on later.))
She watched him and imitated his grim look. She burst out laughing "I can't even do it!" She tried again smothering her laughs trying to look like her mentor
(Okie doke :3)

Max looked at her, confused as to what she was trying to do, then couldn't help but grin as he realized it. "Are you trying to act like me?" He asked, mildly amused.
"Well if Rangers are suppoesd to be gloomy I need to work on it" she said grimly
Max shook his head, turning his attention back to their surroundings. "Not gloomy, per se, but more like.... Restricted. Cut off. Um... No. That's not right. You just have to make it obvious to people that you aren't looking to make friends. You make too many of them and you start to look less intimidating. And that won't do at all in case of emergency."
She nodded as he explained "Makes sense. It'll be hard but I.can do it. " She smiled slightly. She looked around them "We almost there?"
Max couldn't help but give a small smile even as he let out an exasperated sigh. "Nearly. What did I say about patience?"
"I know I know. I'm just excited is all" She said apologetically. She continued walking staring ahead to see if she could see their destination
They walked in silence for awhile, and pretty soon their destination came into view a little ways down the road. As soon as it did, he slowed down his pace a little, curious as to how she would react to the slower pace when they could see where they were going.
She continued on but stopped noticing he slowed down. "What's wrong? That's it isn't it?" she asked confused
Max gave a small nod, forcing himself to keep a straight face. "Yeah, that's it. And nothing's wrong. I just wanted to slow down."
"But we are almost there! its like... so close" She said dancing from foot to foot. "I'm scared to get old... you guys get tired a lot huh?"
Max raised an eyebrow. "You really think I'm tired right now? Jeez, I'd never survive as a Ranger if I got tired that easy. No, I just enjoy seeing you about to explode because of your own impatience."
She grumped at him and crossed her arms walking slow like him. "You're so unfair you know that?" She glared at him but it.softened as she smiled "But I better get used to it. I'm stuck with ya "
Max couldn't help but smile at that. "Yes, you are. And me you." Suddenly remembering that he still wore the crown of flowers, he took it off and tucked it into a pocket, hoping that she didn't notice that he was keeping it.
She continued walkin a small smile playing on her lips. "I hope the horse likes me. "
"I'm sure he will." Max said, relieved more than he would like to say that the gesture had gone unnoticed. He glanced over at her as they approached the place.
She looked around excitedly "Do they go fast? What if I fall off?" She asked woriedly looking at her mentor
Max sighed. Apparently it was too much to ask to walk in silence. "Yes, they go fast. Much faster than you'd have thought they could go. And if you fall up, then the solution is simple. You get back up." He said.
"Okay...." She said nervously. She looked around trying to see anyone. She glanced at him but stayed silent.
((Should the keeper be Young Bob or someone else?))Max picked up his pace as they arrived, looking around for the keeper. He walked around to the stables, hearing the nicker of greeting of his horse, Ace.
((it can be old bob c:))
She followed excitedly a slight bounce in her step
She followed excitedly a slight bounce in her step
((I thought Young Bob replaced Old Bob in the last book? It never says what happens to Old Bob, but I was just assuming he was dead.....))
((right. let's just make a new guy XD)
Max glanced over at her, raising an eyebrow at the bounce in her step. Shaking his head slightly, he crossed the distance to the stable and took a step in. He grinned in greeting at Sam. "Hello." He said. "How ya been?"
Penny hung back a little getting a little shy. She watched them greet each other. She moved from foot to foot anxiously
Sam looked up at them, grinning back. "Max! Long time no see." He walks over to him, hand outstretched. "And who's this?" He looks over at Penny.Max shakes Sam's hand, then grabs Penny's sleeve, pulling her forward slightly. "This is Penny. My apprentice."
"Hello sir." she said softly glancing up at him with a light smile. "How many horses do you have? and do you train them yourselves" she couldn't help asking.
Sam laughed. "You're very direct, aren't you? I train the Ranger horses, and take care of them if they get hurt or something else happens. Other than that, I'm simply a lowly farmer. Would you like to meet your horse?"
"oh yes yes yes!" She said excitedly then remembered how rangers should act. she lost the smile and got a more mature tone. "I mean, yes i would like to"
Sam laughed. "Someone's excited." He said. "Let's go then." He walked to one of the stalls, opening it and letting out a horse. He nods to the stall next to it. "Ace's in there if you want to get him out as well." He said to Max.Max nodded in thanks, making a beeline to the stall that Sam'd indicated. He opened it to let Ace out. He reached out to stroke his neck then led him out of the stables, following Sam to the yard.
((I have to go take a shower, though I'll try to be on later))
Penny watched keeping.herself calm on the outside. She was a bit nervous wanting to be good to please her mentor
Sam led the horse into the enclosed area, shutting the gate behind Max. He looked over to Penny. "Do you know how to saddle a horse?" He asked, jerking his head slightly to indicate the two saddles waiting on the inside of the fence.Max watched and listened, though he retrieved his saddle from the two and quickly put it on Ace. He then turned back to Penny to see if she could do it herself.
Penny watched Max then looked at the saddle. "No sir but ill try." She grabbed the saddle and grunted slightly it being heavier then she expected. It wasnt to heavy though. She swallowed hard as she approached the horse. She licked her lips nervously and stopped a few feet away. "Do I just... put it on?"
Sam and Max shared a glance, then Max turned back to Penny. "Maybe you could put the saddle pad on the horse first? Just a suggestion, though it might make your horse more comfortable."
She redened slightly and looked around spotting the blanket. She heaved the saddle onto the fence again and.grabbed the blanket. She walked over hesitating before stepping up to the horse. She gently placed it on.and backed away quickly waiting.for the horse to react
The horse looked up at her as if it were mildly curious, then looked to Sam.Max raised an eyebrow, then said, "Well, now the saddle. Come on now. You look terrified of the poor creature."
((What's your horse's name?))
(ummmmmmm.... Let's do Anya xD haha and ill do the horse if you want (: ))
She nodded and grabbed the saddle. She squared her shoulders and walked up to it slowly and calmly placing the saddle on her back. "Now what?" she asked curiously glancing at Max

"Swing the girth down and buckle it." Max said to her, crossing his arms as he watched her put the saddle on Anya's back.((Ok haha it just seemed like you did the universal signal for 'Can you do this character?'))
She assumed the thick strap was the so called girth she carefully pulled it from the other side and looped it through and tightening it. Anya whinnied scaring Penny making her jump "What'd I do wrong?"
(Sorry lol)
(Sorry lol)
Max couldn't help but smile a little. "How much did you tighten it?" He asked, one eyebrow raised in question.
"I don't know.. " She loosened it quickly and checked to see if the saddle was staying on. She tightened it a bit until the saddle didn't move. "Is that good?" She asked.
"I don't know. Is it? I'm not the one who's going to be riding her." He said, smiling slightly. "Trial and error. That's the best way to learn in my opinion."
"Is there a ladder to get on?" She asked looking around. "How do I get on?"
Anya shifted her weight and snorted freaking Penny out
