Middle grade book read in class with alternating chapters about a boy who lived on earth and a girl who lives in space possibly Mars. I remember there was a robot maid. Read in 2006.

The genders may be flipped. The book was read in a Canadian elementary school and there was something vaguely Quebecois about the story although it was read in English. I got the impression it was nominated/won a childrens literature prize

Thanks for the suggestion! This books seems to be published in 2018 so it would be much too new since I remember this book from elementary school about 2006-2007.
