éirinn (eirinnfi) | 2 comments This is a real shot in the dark, I read this book probably 15 years ago when I was in school so it is possibly a children's chapter book available in school libraries in the UK. I remember it being based around a theatre and genuinely, in my head the main characters were anthropomorphic mice but I might have imagined that. It seemed like it had been published in or around 2008.

The main thing I remember was the cover being a round wooden stage, small mice visible with red curtains on an overall purple background and a specific scene of two characters arguing behind the theatre.

I don't expect anyone to actually know what I'm talking about, hopefully posting this will make me remember more details I can add later.

Capn | 3506 comments I skimmed through the Picture Book with Mice list: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/9... but didn't see anything (worth having a look still, though - sometimes you spot the same artwork of a sequel, etc.!).

There's also the Hedgerow Series list: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/9...

The Brambly Hedge book The Secret Staircase has a midwinter performance, but no arguing...

bookel | 4026 comments Well, American ... The Great American Mousical by Julie Andrews Edwards. Need to search more for a UK story. Oh you said available in UK school libraries not necessarily set there... The above fits the cover description fairly closely.
