Spring 23 Read-a-Thon: Team Balenciaga

I should finish one or two books today. I activated a hold for business clothes on cover, so we'll see if I get that this week!
I had goal books coming into this week, but we'll see. I might search for some more that fit the prompts we have fewer books for.

Class Mom is on my TBR so I hope you enjoy that one!

Anyway, off to read Divine Rivals now.

Now off to finish Class Mom. Kathryn, I am halfway through the book and I am finding it hilarious!

Going to start Book Woman of Troublesome Creek

We don't have anything planned for business clothes on the cover, so I might add The Boyfriend Candidate or The Road to Perdition (I have the movie tie-in cover) to my tbr for the week...

Martha, I added your book to the completed tab. You can put books in the plans tab to help look at overlap if you want, but also if you find that annoying or just don't feel like doing it, it's also fine not to.

I’m just about to startDeal with the Devil. I think it’s a sci fi romance so it should fit either the cross genre or sci fi category. I’m excited to finally be able to read outside—today is the first really nice sunny (and not cold) day in months!

Not loving it right now, but hopefully it grows on me

I've finished two books today so far, Mariel of Redwall, which I put on High Heels/features a holiday, and Divine Rivals, which I put on Fan/cross-genre. So, Kathryn, I guess you can probably plan on the sci fi prompt for Deal with the Devil, that seems to be a tough prompt for us based on what we've got on the plans tab!
Mariel was a delightfully nostalgic reread for me, the full-cast audios are so gorgeously done for this series. Divine Rivals just came out, I thought it was great though the writing was a little uneven, but I still loved it. (Big cliffhanger ending, though, can't believe I'm going to have to wait at least a year, likely more, for the sequel!)
I DNFed Moorewood Family Rules, it's just not doing it for me (such a disappointment), but started The Holy Thief which is a nice fast read, anyway.

I was going to start a book over 400 pages, but Book Woman made me so angry I have to start The Unhoneymooners to put myself in a better mood.

I will finish listening to Carry On tomorrow and will probably finish Everything Sad Is Untrue late tomorrow night.

Next up is The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary!

I support this decision! Though, I haven't read The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, and have thought about it, so maybe I shouldn't add it to my TBR!

I go in a couple of days a week, but on the other days, I wear sweats.

I read When You Were Everything last night, and put it on Casual/an author you've read before. Started a few new books today, too!

I’ve been getting in a lot of pages because my son got a few books for Easter and he just wants to read. He’s definitely my child!

Depending on how today goes, I might finish Lessons in Chemistry. After that I'll listen to A Pale View of Hills (<200 pages or black/white/gray).
I had another <200 page book I was hoping to get, but even though it's been available most of the year, I saved was saving it for a read-a-thon, and it happens to be checked out right now!

I love that your son loves to read! That's how it goes with my niece and nephew too and I love it so much.

I'm reading The Unhoneymooners right now (and enjoying it) and the main heroine is a scientist. I googled and it definitely is a white-collar job. So I can add that there or Traci if you finish first I can also put it under holiday or event (wedding) and we can start on the second round of prompts

I'm really liking it! She's good and quirky. Though it makes me glad we've progressed as much as we have in women's rights. Sometimes I wonder what we'll think of the time we're living in now 50 years down the road (I have some thoughts on that already).
I read The Unhoneymooners earlier this year and liked that one too!

I’m one of the rare people who didn’t really like Lessons in Chemistry judging by its high rating on Goodreads. It was completely not what I was expecting based on its description (I might have liked it better if I hadn’t read a synopsis of it beforehand).

I should finish Everything Sad Is Untrue tonight.

Here's our party outfit - dress, heels, purse, and hair clip, all Balenciaga.

I'll work on a formal outfit next.

The gown is vintage Balenciaga, the necklace is what Julie Andrews wore to the Oscars in 1964, the earrings were designed for Marie Antoinette, and the shoes and gloves are vintage as well (just google image search for those, though).
