message 4: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Hi everyone! I'm excited to read with you all this week! Nice to see some have already started in on the planning tab. I'll add some TBR books later today.

message 5: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments Hi all! Looking forward to another fun readathon with y'all! :D

message 6: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments Hi everyone! Excited for another readathon!

message 7: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthag503) | 519 comments Hello! I'm looking forward to the Readathon week with this group. I'm hoping to finish Our Missing Hearts today.

message 8: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments Hoping to finish up Love & Other Words today. Started Thursday, but I still have 6 hours left on the audiobook so it’ll definitely count.

message 9: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I'm housesitting/dogsitting this week which I just realized makes my audio a little funny. I usually try to use audiobooks to help convince myself to do chores around my house!

I should finish one or two books today. I activated a hold for business clothes on cover, so we'll see if I get that this week!

I had goal books coming into this week, but we'll see. I might search for some more that fit the prompts we have fewer books for.

message 10: by Jill (new)

Jill | 725 comments I should finish The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post today and will probably finish Class Mom tomorrow or Monday.

message 11: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments Hi everyone, I’m excited to read with all of you! I’m currently reading Crying in H Mart and Spin the Dawn and am hoping to finish those this weekend.

Class Mom is on my TBR so I hope you enjoy that one!

message 12: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments I saved the last 100 pages of my book for this morning, so I have a finish! I found a Balenciaga party dress photo to share, and can add the other outfit pieces as we earn them and post the complete outfit when it’s done. 💃

message 13: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments So there’s a song in the musical Kiss of the Spider Woman that includes the line “Balenciaga it was!” Sung rather dramatically. And I get it stuck in my head every time I see this thread or our spreadsheet 😂

Anyway, off to read Divine Rivals now.

message 14: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments Happy Saturday! I finished When We Lost Our Heads and put it as a book that spans multiple decades, but feel free to move later on!

message 15: by Jill (new)

Jill | 725 comments I finished The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post and added it to Formal/A book featuring a fancy event (lots of fancy events in the book).
Now off to finish Class Mom. Kathryn, I am halfway through the book and I am finding it hilarious!

message 16: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments Finished Love & Other Words and put it in Avant Garde: not totally chronological.

Going to start Book Woman of Troublesome Creek

message 17: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I finished Against the Loveless World and put it in Business: fancy socks. I'm starting A Holly Jolly Diwali, which fits a bunch of prompts.

message 18: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthag503) | 519 comments I just finished Our Missing Hearts and I'll have to look to see where it might fit. I also started When Women Were Birds: Fifty-four Variations on Voice

message 19: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments Hoping to finish both Divine Rivals and Mariel of Redwall tomorrow.

We don't have anything planned for business clothes on the cover, so I might add The Boyfriend Candidate or The Road to Perdition (I have the movie tie-in cover) to my tbr for the week...

message 20: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments Morning everyone! I hope to finish Maid today and make good progress on Cartographers.

message 21: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments We made a good start to our closet yesterday! We currently have a cocktail dress, a jacket, a belt, fancy socks, 2 pairs of high heels and some feathers for that added flair!

Martha, I added your book to the completed tab. You can put books in the plans tab to help look at overlap if you want, but also if you find that annoying or just don't feel like doing it, it's also fine not to.

message 22: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I finished Spin the Dawn and put it into the royalty/nobility slot.

I’m just about to startDeal with the Devil. I think it’s a sci fi romance so it should fit either the cross genre or sci fi category. I’m excited to finally be able to read outside—today is the first really nice sunny (and not cold) day in months!

message 23: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments I finished Maid and put it as shoes, or a main character who works outdoors! It’ll probably take me a couple of days to finish The Cartographers but I’m really enjoying it!

message 24: by Jill (new)

Jill | 725 comments I finished Class Mom and slotted it under Party/A Humorous Book. Should finish Better Than Fiction tonight and may start Everything Sad Is Untrue. Tomorrow I will get back to listening to Carry On. I should finish that one on Tuesday.

message 25: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments You’re all doing so great! Still reading Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. Haven’t got much in today with Easter. But hoping to finish tomorrow.

Not loving it right now, but hopefully it grows on me

message 26: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments I hope everyone who celebrates Easter had a nice holiday, and that those of us who don't had a lovely spring Sunday! 💗

I've finished two books today so far, Mariel of Redwall, which I put on High Heels/features a holiday, and Divine Rivals, which I put on Fan/cross-genre. So, Kathryn, I guess you can probably plan on the sci fi prompt for Deal with the Devil, that seems to be a tough prompt for us based on what we've got on the plans tab!

Mariel was a delightfully nostalgic reread for me, the full-cast audios are so gorgeously done for this series. Divine Rivals just came out, I thought it was great though the writing was a little uneven, but I still loved it. (Big cliffhanger ending, though, can't believe I'm going to have to wait at least a year, likely more, for the sequel!)

I DNFed Moorewood Family Rules, it's just not doing it for me (such a disappointment), but started The Holy Thief which is a nice fast read, anyway.

message 27: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments I made a bit of progress on both my book (Conjure Women) and audiobook (The Space Between Worlds) and weirdly I ended up at 41% on both of them tonight!

message 28: by Martha (last edited Apr 09, 2023 11:23PM) (new)

Martha (marthag503) | 519 comments I finished When Women Were Birds: Fifty-four Variations on Voice and added it to Formal: black, white and gray cover. I decided to read Other Birds.

message 29: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I mentioned the business clothes prompt to my friend the other day and she responded, well, I wear joggers to work. Working as research scientists in academia in Seattle isn't quite the office environment this prompt is going for (people wear jeans to some of our conferences).

message 30: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments Haha Tracy, I was thinking the same thing. I’m in the Bay Area and 90% of people wear jeans to the office. Even our C-Suite.

message 31: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments Completed The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek and put it under Casual: set in a small or rural area.

I was going to start a book over 400 pages, but Book Woman made me so angry I have to start The Unhoneymooners to put myself in a better mood.

message 32: by Jill (new)

Jill | 725 comments I work remotely so most days it is leggings, jeans or shorts. 😊

message 33: by Jill (new)

Jill | 725 comments I finished Better Than Fiction and added it to Party/A book with a cover that has at least 4 colors. We just need to add 2 undergarments to it and we have finished Party!
I will finish listening to Carry On tomorrow and will probably finish Everything Sad Is Untrue late tomorrow night.

message 34: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments Finished Cartographers earlier than expected! Put it as a shirt, or book set in an office workspace.

Next up is The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary!

message 35: by Traci (new)

I support this decision! Though, I haven't read The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, and have thought about it, so maybe I shouldn't add it to my TBR!

message 36: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Jill wrote: "I work remotely so most days it is leggings, jeans or shorts. 😊"

I go in a couple of days a week, but on the other days, I wear sweats.

message 37: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments I work from home and not on video calls, so... business attire is sometimes pajamas for me, haha.

I read When You Were Everything last night, and put it on Casual/an author you've read before. Started a few new books today, too!

message 38: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I started listening to Pride on audiobook and am about halfway through Deal with the Devil, but I might finish that one today.

I’ve been getting in a lot of pages because my son got a few books for Easter and he just wants to read. He’s definitely my child!

message 39: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Yesterday felt difficult and I didn't read as much as I expected, but rallied some at the end of the night.

Depending on how today goes, I might finish Lessons in Chemistry. After that I'll listen to A Pale View of Hills (<200 pages or black/white/gray).

I had another <200 page book I was hoping to get, but even though it's been available most of the year, I saved was saving it for a read-a-thon, and it happens to be checked out right now!

I love that your son loves to read! That's how it goes with my niece and nephew too and I love it so much.

message 41: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Oh, also, I wanted to ask: Elizabeth is a chemist in Lessons in Chemistry, I think that would count as white collar, right? (It's not lab assistant chemistry)

message 42: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments Are you liking Lessons in Chemistry

I'm reading The Unhoneymooners right now (and enjoying it) and the main heroine is a scientist. I googled and it definitely is a white-collar job. So I can add that there or Traci if you finish first I can also put it under holiday or event (wedding) and we can start on the second round of prompts

I'm really liking it! She's good and quirky. Though it makes me glad we've progressed as much as we have in women's rights. Sometimes I wonder what we'll think of the time we're living in now 50 years down the road (I have some thoughts on that already).

I read The Unhoneymooners earlier this year and liked that one too!

message 44: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I finished Deal with the Devil and slotted it in for sci fi.

I’m one of the rare people who didn’t really like Lessons in Chemistry judging by its high rating on Goodreads. It was completely not what I was expecting based on its description (I might have liked it better if I hadn’t read a synopsis of it beforehand).

message 45: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments I’m making good progress on The Flatmate today! Not sure that I’ll finish but really enjoying so probably tomorrow 😊

message 46: by Jill (new)

Jill | 725 comments I finished Carry On and added it to Formal/A book over 400 pages. We just need to add 2 undergarments and we finished Formal.
I should finish Everything Sad Is Untrue tonight.

message 47: by Chrissy (last edited Apr 11, 2023 05:39PM) (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments We've finished 2 outfits!
Here's our party outfit - dress, heels, purse, and hair clip, all Balenciaga.

I'll work on a formal outfit next.

message 48: by Chrissy (last edited Apr 11, 2023 05:56PM) (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments Here's our formal look!

The gown is vintage Balenciaga, the necklace is what Julie Andrews wore to the Oscars in 1964, the earrings were designed for Marie Antoinette, and the shoes and gloves are vintage as well (just google image search for those, though).

message 49: by Jill (new)

Jill | 725 comments These are so wonderful! Thanks, Chrissy! I can’t wait to finis the other categories to see what you have for us!

message 50: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments Love both those outfits 🤩 thanks for putting them together, Chrissy!
