Spring 23 Read-a-Thon: Team Balenciaga

I'm finding audio easier while dogsitting because I can listen and play with her at the same time. Her family has less of a normal 9 to 5 than I do so I need to get her energy out after work so she'll let me sleep!

I finished Pride and put it under the second formal event since that seems like a tough category to fill (there’s a funeral in it and the book actually spends some time talking about the clothing people are wearing).
I started reading Sunshine last night, but only got 13 pages in before I fell asleep. I also got an email that my library hold for Remarkably Bright Creatures came through so I might start that one today or tomorrow.
I really enjoyed The Flatshare so I’m glad you’re liking it, Caitie!

Ugh! Sorry the kiddo kept you up! Nice you're able to read when that happens! I agree that that should count. I echo the group that really enjoyed the Flatshare (I even have chosen to use it as a reread for a prompt).

Next I am reading Rosaline Palmer Takes the Cake and listening to Nightwork. I might finish Rosaline Palmer tomorrow night and Nightwork I should finish on Friday.

I decided to read books in series I’ve liked since I’m on spring break and am just trying to relax. I binge-listened Protect the Prince and got the next book in the Deal with the Devil series. I will probably finish those by Friday.

I'm reading Other Birds and just started reading The Secret Diaries of Charles Ignatius Sancho. They don't fit any prompts so i'm just counting what I read as pages unless we start another round of outfits.

Basically I'm doing tomorrow is reading, though, so that'll get back on track!

Sometimes we need a day like that, I hope you're feeling better today!

I plan to listen to books for both office workspace and business clothes since I put them on hold when we were struggling with those in the first round and my holds came in. Obviously feel free to slot in books there if they fit, but just thought I'd mention in case people are actively seeking out books for prompts.

Sorry if that was confusing, those two would both be for second round. But...I have no opinion on holiday, fine with me either way, "vacation" is "holiday" in the UK, probably some other places too.

I finished Protect the Prince and put it in for imaginary world. To be honest, I probably would have given up on it if not for the readathon and our need for this last prompt. I was really mad at the book/author because there were just so many cliches, and poor writing, and it had nearly every romance trope that I hate (other woman drama, drama caused by poor communication, lying for whatever reason, etc.). The end was fine but the journey was not enjoyable. I had liked the first book in the series and thought the author was pretty good, so this was a disappointment. I will not be continuing the series. I’m hoping my next book is better.

I will probably finish only 1 more book, The Marriage Portrait but we shall see.

I finished Protect the Prince and put it in for imaginary world. To be ho..."
Ugh, sorry you didn't enjoy this book. Especially annoying since you liked the first one! I feel like that's worth some extra ruffles!

I did already read The Bruising of Qilwa tonight and added it to imaginary world. It was good, a little heavy-handed occasionally but still an intriguing read. And I’m Iranian American, so getting to read an Iran-inspired fantasy world made up for any slight shortcomings in the writing for me 😂

I put Other Birds in Casual: Author I've read before and Weyward is potentially in two categories of small town/rural area and a book that is not totally chronological.

Finished The Man Who Died Twice and put it under Party/ a humorous book. I highly recommend this mystery series. It’s such a joy.
Does anyone have any good novella/short books published this year to recommend? If so, I can start that tonight and probably finish. Otherwise I may just be able to contribute pages

For some reason the 2023 prompt is the hardest for me. The ones I’m excited to read don’t come out till the Fall

Probably won’t finish another book tomorrow so will just work on pages!

Won’t be able to finish another by tomorrow, but will add pages.

I think there's a chance we could finish round two based on what's in progress. I just stared some at the spreadsheet and think I'm going to move A Pale View of Hills to black/white/gray cover. That means the casual outfit Roxana finished last night is no longer finished, but we can finish it if (1) Martha finishes Wayward and we move Silver in the Wood to under 200 pages or (2) I found a short audio under 200 pages I can get to if needed. Sound good?

I’m hoping to finish a couple more books today, so should be able to help round those out, including Road to Perdition which does the business clothes prompt.

Without/before moving books around, looks like we could use just pattern on the cover (which, Traci, you might still finish?) and under 200 pages left. I’ve got a couple hours remaining of an audiobook that’s under 200 (Drowned Country, by Emily Tesh), so I’ll plug it in there if we still need it by the end of the day. 😊

I doubt I'll finish another book today so I'm going to complete my challenge. I read fewer books than planned, but I'm happy with what I could complete.
Thank you all for another great Readathon experience! It was fun!
