horror/ sci fi dectective, anciant demon, mystery

I am be very off on the details I am sorry but from what I remeber:

read between 3-5 years ago, I believe that it was a dectective that was investigating a murder when half way through the investigation he descovers that it was commited by an anciant demon and starts to look into the history of the demon. I believe towards the end of the book he finds a retired dective who has also investigated the demon.

i would really love to read this again but for the life of me I can't remember the author or name of the book.

Was it a very long book? Can you remember anything about the title format or what the cover looked like? :)

Im sorry my memory isnt' the best. I would like to say maybe the set was chichgo but i am be wrong i do remember it being a city and when he goes to see the retired dective he lived in the country. I want to say the demon/ thing took lots of forms through the centeries but in this book she was a woman. a new ancor i think

I do remember a pretty garphic scene that i ended up skiping most of because it was pretty bad. ( i remember it being about her bitting a mans private part off)

o for sure lol. I usually do ok with garphic scens but that one was a bit much so i skipped over the rest of that scene .
