😴 Week #1 💤

Rating 4✨
📝Review: a sweet historical romance taking place in London during Victorian England. I loved how grumpy and rude our mfc was. The story is clean, but there was a very descriptive kiss that was so sensual it gave me tingles. Well worthy a read.

Week # 2
Bookcover/link: Forged in Love
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review: The book is part of a trio of books set in Wyoming during 1870s. This book introduced the three main female characters each of which will be featured as a main character in the books. Each woman is unusual for her times. This book highlights Mariah, a blacksmith in the small town who is the only witness to a stagecoach robbery.

The Devil's Heiress
Pages: 373
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Review: Jo Beverely, one of my favorite Regency authors, offers plots that are NOT as predictable as many authors in her subgenre, and this book has late unexpected plot twists that prove that rule. A bit steamy.
Date Completed: April 8, 2023

Not a problem! Hope everything is okay

Real life happens. Don’t worry about it. This is a challenge where you can get behind and as long as you are caught up going into the last week it really doesn’t matter what happens in between.

📝Review: Another 4 stars and it would have been 5 if the ending didn't leave so much to be desired, it was a bit rushed. I just love 🥰💓love🥰💝love🥰💖 Christina's books, she has a mixture of really spicy romance with sassy, strong female characters, funny moments, drama and all in all addictive stories. This one is an enemies to lovers and it was light, fun and spicy. The narration was outstanding and just made the story better.

Review: This one still feels like a pivotal point in the series to me. Mac comes into her own more in this book. She becomes a little less dependent on the men in her life, and more self-sufficient. It's not easy because these men have advantages that she doesn't possess, but that doesn't stop her from trying. I've always loved that she was willing to stand toe-to-toe with these powerful beings.

Jane can I get you to clarify for the rules. C has selected and completed a book for week 1, selected but not completed a book for week 2 and has not selected a book for week 3. This week, week 3 she must at a minimum select a book for week 3.
[First understanding of rules]
But she can have two unread books that carry over to week 4? So that in week 4 she must select for week 4 and complete one of the outstanding books?
[second understanding of rules]
Or can she only have 1 unread book that carries over to the following week, so that in week 3 she must select for week 3 and either complete week 2 or 3’s book?
My reading of your comments is that it is the second is correct, but my reading of the rules is it’s the first. I just want to be sure I’m encouraging the correct way. Of course I would prefer no one get behind a week as I think it gets harder to catch up but I know life does happen! And I think either way she will have both a book selected and read this week, but I want to be sure I have it straight in my mind for what I should be looking for.
Thanks!

Book 3 is Zs and Bella’s story. Theirs so far is my least favorite of the first 3. It definitely has a lot of sad moments in this book - (view spoiler)
It was nice to see Z have his slight redemption moment. I didn’t like the love triangle aspect of the story. Just not my thing. But of course it does end with a HEA.

Review: Lila is on a mission to lose her virginity before the choice is forced from her by the recruitment ceremony. The recruitment is a very cruel process in the dystopian world where you are drafted into service. This is nothing like a draft in our time, if you are recruited you are then raped by the soldiers and forced into either the lowest ranking positions or into being unpaid sex workers.
So, I completely understood Lila's determination. It's basically the only thing that she has any control over, if only she can find a willing participant. She want it to be with someone she trusts, so she tries to enlist a friend. He's reluctant, so she moves on.
In the course of all of this she meets Aleksey. The way they meet leaves much to be desired for Lila, and once she realizes his position she has even more distrust.
We don't get this story from his point of view, but his actions speaks volumes. I understood her not trusting him at first due to her experiences, but the more he showed her who he was, I expected her to get a clue. Her little sister had more since than her in that regard.
Overall, I enjoyed this story. There were times when I felt things were repeated for no reason, but it was still an intriguing story.

Review:
Omg this was unexpectedly very good! Definitely is not a romcom, however, the flow of the relationship & banter between Drew and Josh just gives off that vibe. There are lots of serious topics in this book - I.e suicide by parent; parent with cancer; feelings of abandonment; addiction; drug use.
I remember when I read the 1st book of the series we were introduced to Drew and I was so not interested in her. But I guess because enough time has passed since when I read that one that I forgot this detail and man am I glad I did! I ended up really liking Drew. Is she a bit rough around the edges - yes - but honestly she deserves to be. Josh was such a good calming fit for her! And he was so obsessed! Love when the MMC is just so like head over heals for the FMC.
Would definitely reread this one and I’m definitely excited for the next book in the series which looks like it’s Ben’s story! I’m glad it’s Ben’s and not Six’s. I think I would need some time to forget about Six to be able to read his story - cuz he sucks!

📝Review: This was a re-read\listen inspired by C pick from week 3 - THANK YOU 🙌😁💕👍- Love this story and the original review was 5 🌟 but this time around I took 0,5 star away because we needed a male narrator as well. They are both lawyers and enemies before being forced to work in the same case and things start to change. Not all is what they appear. Great writing and very addictive story.
