SOLVED. YA fiction about Girl who lives in Ice World and Boy who meets her. [s]

So basically, it's two storylines that eventually meet

Girl:
Lives in underground in ice with Aunt and helps deliver snow dogs and helps uncover huge conspiracy with red ring. Ring and Snow dog are huge part of story

Boy:
Suffers migraines, parents are scientists and they travel to ice island (Antartica? North Pole?) with researcher friend and they live in what they call GBGB (Giant Blue Golf Ball)

Basically the two meet and they uncover the conspiracy, learn the boy's mother is from the ice world and they plan to keep in contact in order to help with the shifting ice levels and climate change.

Maybe helpful notes:
The Girl travels with skates
The Girls Aunt has a daughter in epilogue (which is really important for story reasons) and names her Iris
The Ice people came from Europe fleeing persecution

Yes! That's it! Thank you so so so so so much! I remember really enjoying it in middle school and it was defintely a favorite when I was younger

I enjoyed it as well! I only gave it a low Goodreads rating (2.5, but Goodreads doesn't have half stars) because I thought the climax was really disappointing, but in terms of general enjoyment and atmosphere it was great.
