Fantasy series wizard in a world of sorcerers (sorcerers become elementals controlled by other sorcerers)

fantasy series about a boy who.is raised by his mother, an herbalist, he is bitten by a snake when a mysterious person visits his mother (turns out to be his natural father), he almost dies and his magical powers awaken, his grandfather (who is hundreds of years old) teaches him wizardry, he has a different kind of wizardry than modern sorcerers (sorcerers is a dirty word to his grandfather) he marry’s the king’s daughter, the kings daughter enters into a pact with the fae on the night of their marriage.

I’ve read at least 3-4 from the series but can’t find it in my libraries.
