Middle grade book about a kid or kids who go with an agent in a car

I read it around 2015-2017

I remember reading this book in elementary/middle school, and in my mind I always mix it up with that scene from a Wrinkle in Time where all the kids are bouncing a ball.

I remember there being a kid or kids and they get into a car with some agent person. The car ride was described as very smooth and it didn't feel like they were moving. At one point they were in a building and there was a table with a phone called like the White Convenience Phone or something similar. I think the main character had trouble deciding whether or not she should use it or not. I think there was something to do with all of the houses in a neighborhood being exactly the same.

The title is maybe a short sentence with maybe the word sidewalk in it

Can you only remember this one scene, or can we eke out any more context? :) (I wasn't able to find much with 'sidewalk' as a title term).

Was it meant to be futuristic/sci-fi (not being able to feel the car move)?

Were the children kidnapped or endangered?
