Complete long shot, Children of Morrow? If not, it might be helpful to have more information. Is this book for kids, teens, or adults?
How old are the siblings? Two males, two females, or one of each?
It was for teens I’m not sure how old they were but maybe younger than 15
The cover art of the book I had was not that great
Kind of primitive
I just know they were in a world of sand and they had to cross the desert to be able to save their world/ family
The Makers by Victor Kelleher has a boy and a girl (escapees from a military training school) travelling across the desert, but they are not siblings.
The Crystal Drop (also by Monica Hughes, see bookel's suggestion) also has a pretty memorable deserty stretch with siblings (and their dog***)***EDIT: I amended this content retroactively

Please note: The Spoiler tag doesn't work in the Goodreads App. The "hidden" text is always visible.
