Trike | 11192 comments Looks like it’s neck and neck with, oddly, one vote for the Ryria Revelations.

terpkristin | 4407 comments I made my vote but honestly, one I read and one I tried and would try again but meh. So I voted for the bye month for myself.

message 4: by Ruth (new)

Ruth | 1778 comments I’ve already read both of these, they’re very different books but I think either one would spark some good discussion.

I have to decide whether to read Laser runner-up The Terraformers, Children of Time threequel Children of Memory, or something else altogether.

Stephen Richter (stephenofskytrain) | 1638 comments I read both. I liked both.

FYI: I nominated `Children of Time` having already read the trilogy and wanting to nominate `Children of Memory` (but knowing that wih you have to start at the beginning) as I was especially interested to see Veronica's reaction to the crows, given her affinity with corvids. In many ways it's a very different book to the earlier 2, and dances on the line between fantasy and sci fi. I've seen very mixed reviews, so it may not be to everyone's taste; but for me the whole series is great as it doesn't take itself too seriously, whilst exploring some interesting ideas around the definition & recognition of intelligence.

If you do choose to read it, hope you enjoy.

That's good to know. I might give it a try as well. I read Children of Time last year after it lost, but didn't go on from there. In general I feel like I should start doing brackets next year, because it feels like whichever book I find the least interesting wins. This isn't a bad thing, because then I go off in a huff and read some of the books I did vote for while discussion starts on the winner. Then after reading the discussion, I eventually get around to reading the pick and enjoying it, so win win.

Ruth | 1778 comments Ooh, a closer result than I expected, although still the winner I’d predicted. It’ll be interesting to see what everyone thinks of L&L.

message 11: by Mer (new)

Mer | 205 comments how did everyone's predictions do?

message 12: by Tamahome (new)

Tamahome | 7216 comments I predicted by the number of goodreads ratings, so had Red Rising as the winner. Momo had a lot of ratings too, although that was in another language.

I picked L&L for the win and had it going up against CoT in the final. Missed some early ones, though.
