SOLVED. MG/ YA lengthy Fantasy book series about a group of 4 each learning a different type of magic and growing throughout the series. [s]

Between middle grade and young adult, the series has around 7-9 books or so, the first couple are about the four main characters meeting each other and learning about their magical abilities, they're fairly young at this point, then each character gets a book about their own personal endeavors and growth, then the last I remember reading they had all met back up again. One of the guys' book took place in a desert town and his abilities involved rocks, and one of the female characters was named some variation of Tricia, and had lightning/weather related abilities

Read it between 2009-2016

Remember a lot of vague details but nothing concrete enough to find on my own, cannot figure it out

I think you may be looking for the Circle of Magic series by Tamora Pierce. The first one is: Sandry's Book
Each child gets their own story and there is a character named Tris who has the lightning/storm abilities you mentioned.
