SOLVED: Children's/YA > SOLVED. The title was simply Runaway. MC was a teenage girl and I'd call it YA with adult themes. Came out in 60s or 70s. [s]

I don't remember much about the plot, but I believe at one point the MC was in a home for runaways or troubled teens or something. And I think while she was on the street, she may have ended up getting into drugs and/or was sexually assaulted. The cover was white or off-white and showed a long-haired girl standing there in jeans (maybe flare or bell-bottom). I'm pretty sure the author was female, and would have published this in 1960-80 (guessing early 70s). I'm 100% sure the title was simply Runaway, just that single word.

Anyone who recognizes this, or can find me a link? TIA!

Thank you, but I've tried the standard searches. With over 5,000 results to look through, it seems hopeless. I thought someone might know this book and its author, and be able to pin it down more closely for me. Thanks, though!

Most likely not the right book. The OP states that the book is from the 60's or 70's.

This sounds familiar. I just have to see if I can remember the title or author.

No, sorry. I know for sure the title was just Runaway. I'm pretty sure I'll recognize the author's name when/if I see it, but I can't come up with it on my own.

EDIT: This was meant for Capn. Sorry about that!

She let her fingers run lovingly around the small, felt brim, waiting for the familiar warmth of securtiy to flow upward as it usually did. Touching the hat was like rubbing a magic lantern. She could always bring Mike before her. His voice, his touch, his face, the dozens of sweet unforgettable memories they has shared would be there to choose from. Only now, for some reason. Mike seemed so long ago and far away, like someone she had read about. She shook her head hard. Mike loved her, and she loved him. She must hold on to that. Nobody else cared...not her horrible stepfather...not her wishy-washy mother..."

Capn | 3506 comments A Mod can do that (EDIT: if you're on the desktop site, you can edit your post and put it into the SOLVED folder, too). Either way. :)
Glad to help. Sorry for the confusing message sequences - I'm still not getting any notifications. Ah well. Book found, that's all that matters.
Happy Weekend! ;)
