I finished House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen and got creepy, goose-bump Alfred Hitchcock vibes from this thriller. 4 Stars My Review

I read The President's Lawyer by Lawrence S. Robbins It is a US legal mystery with a surprise ending. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
It takes only a page or two and I'm completely back in Harry's world. Michael Connelly's Lost Light is as engrossing as the the others in the Bosch series. Love 'em!

There are so many old legends and myths about vampires that there is a great deal of leeway in writing about them. Authors can pick and choose as well as putting their own twists. I like Alan Zacher’s approach in AMANDA FIGHTS VAMPIRES ALONE. His vampires are like the humans they once were, ranging from dignified, likable people who try to avoid violence to violent psychotics, and everything in between. Perhaps even better, all his major characters, normal humans and vampires, are multidimensional. Even the best of them, such as Amanda, are far from perfect. Even the worst of them, at least before they became raving lunatics, have some redeeming qualities. Alan Zacher’s style in AMANDA FIGHTS VAMPIRES ALONE is a bit unusual in that he often speaks directly to the reader. Unusual, but hardly unknown. Dickens and a few other authors also used it. Zacher makes considerable use of flashbacks, not my favorite style, but fairly common. Now the bad news. I enjoyed AMANDA FIGHTS VAMPIRES ALONE and would have liked to give it five stars, but two things caused me to drop it to four. First, there is far too much repetition, sometimes amounting to giving the reader almost exactly the same scene at least twice. Second, and not as severe a problem, Zacher goes into so much descriptive detail I found the book a bit tedious in places. Weighing the positives against the negatives, the positives are far more prevalent in AMANDA FIGHTS VAMPIRES ALONE by Alan Zacher and I happily recommend it.

Under a Raging Moon by Frank Zafiro has restored my love for reading! I haven’t enjoyed a book so thoroughly in several years, nor found myself so excited to get back to my reading spot and crack one open again. This first installment in Zafiro’s River City series is powerfully written, pulling no punches, intentionally presenting difficult yet important issues in law enforcement. As a former police officer who rose up through the ranks to serve in a number of leadership capacities, the author is more than able to offer his readers a realistic depiction of the day-to-day lives of a well-rounded cast of law enforcement professionals. But that’s not all: his brilliant prose provides emotional depth, vivid descriptions, hard-hitting action, and humor that will have you rolling on the floor, all with a team-playing humility that keeps this novel firmly grounded in what’s most important to any story: the people.
As multiple storylines converge in a tense and brilliantly crafted finale, Zafiro wraps everything up with a neat and practiced flourish. I’ll be reading more from him for sure!
Here is my 4.59 rounded to 5 stars review of Passions in Death by J.D. Robb:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Police Procedural - near-future - some romance
Robb is an excellent storyteller who combines a clever plot with gripping scenes, lots of solid police investigation, and engaging characters with depth.
This one was a little slower paced than some, but still great.

My revised review of Lea Ypi's memoir 'Free'. I really enjoyed it. ‘When freedom finally arrived, it was like a dish served frozen,’ says Lea Ypi of life in post-communist Albania as she meditates in ‘Free’ on the idea’s true meaning. ‘We chewed a little, swallowed fast and remained hungry.’
