Loved Body in the Marsh, really happy to see that there are follow ups now.
Where the Dead Sleep by Joshua Moehling is a very enjoyable character driven murder mystery. Set in a small town, with a very likeable deputy sheriff with a wry sense of humour. It is the second in the series but reads fine as a stand alone, although I will definitely be seeking out the first book. review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I found
Dark Corners by Megan Goldin about a missing social media influencer a bit slow to get started (and social influencers very annoying) but enjoyed the book more as the plot thickened.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The thriller, The Chalk Man, was a much-hyped debut by C.J. Tudor when it came out a few years ago, and today I needed a horror for a challenge. Yes, there's some creepy stuff.
My review of The Chalk Man
Strange Sally Diamond
just landed on my best-of-2023 list. My five star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Here is my 4.52 rounded to 5 stars review of Wide Awake
by Steven Konkoly:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Political / Military Thriller
Konkoly is an outstanding storyteller who kept me on the edge of my seat with gripping scenes, action, a superb plot, and fantastic writing. His military background brings an authenticity to his thrillers. He does a great job of balancing the shocking action scenes against the intrigue of the conspiracy plot and the planning of countermeasures.

Romantic Suspense
This is the second book in the New Orleans romantic suspense series that is also partly a police procedural and a private investigator crime novel.
The prologue immediately grabbed my attention and the story continues with action, investigation by both the police and the private investigation firm, and plenty of twists and turns. The novel builds suspense in a way that pulls readers into the lives of the characters. The plot is full of chasing down leads and interviewing people as well as plenty of danger for those involved.
The Golden Gate
was almost perfect right up until an unbelievable ending. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Everyone needs to read Tom Lake
. Or really, listen to it! Five huge stars. My review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read Anarchy and Old Dogs by Colin Cotterill It is set in 1977 Laos and has humorous asides. while Dr. Siri Paiboun solves several mysteries. The author, born in England, lived for several years in Laos. My 4-star review. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Fine Art of Uncanny Prediction is the second book in Robert Goddard's Umiko Wada series, featuring a middle aged Japanese widow who becomes a PI after the investigator she keeps office for is killed. Not a cosy mystery, the plot is quite complex but well done.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This is one for those who enjoy a high octane, fast paced thriller with a unique protagonist. It's the second in the series but is self contained and would work fine as a stand alone.

YA Historical Mystery
Overall, this book was an engaging and atmospheric young adult historical mystery that moved at a quick pace. The author does a good job of world-building. While the mystery is not overly complicated, it is entertaining and thought-provoking.

I finished reading Dead and Gone by Joanna Schaffhausen and loved it! 4 Stars My Review. With a tenacious heroine who never gives up, multiple twisted plot lines, immersible setting and a whole lot of family drama, DEAD AND GONE is highly engaging and unbelievably atmospheric.
A Cast of Falcons is a cozy mystery with an old time feel. My 3.5 star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Here is my 3.78 rounded to 4 stars review of Wedding Bells Brew Murder
by Carolyn Arnold:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Overall, I enjoyed this novel, which was engaging, entertaining, and humorous. While it’s very different from the other series I have read by this author, I found the writing style relatable, vivid, and irresistible.
A Private Investigation
is a fabulous police procedural with one of my favorite detectives. My five star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read The Lost English Girl by Julia Kelly It is historical fiction, set in England, from 1935 to 1952 and centered on the child evacuation program during WWII. I enjoyed it and recommend it to fans of historical fiction. My 4-star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I loved Aussie author Benjamin Stevenson's quirky murder mystery Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone. I enjoyed the mix of humour, snowbound location, and clever plot presentation. Good audio, too.

Here is my 4.26 rounded to 4 stars review of Cave 13
by Jonathan Maberry:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Action / Military Thriller
Overall, this novel is a shockingly dark, disturbing, and an emotional ride. Once again Maberry hooked me with the fascinating prologue than pulled me immediately into the story.
Listening to Crook Manifesto
was the perfect marriage of voice and words. My 4.5 star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A Generation of Vipers is a worthy addition to the series. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Last One by Will Dean is a nightmarish roller coaster of a novel. Not for the faint hearted or those who expect total plausibility in a novel!review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Here is my 3.16 rounded to 3 stars review of My Roommate Is a Vampire
by Jenna Levine:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Overall, this was fun and charming, but the ending was too quick and easily resolved in this slow burn romance for me. While there wasn’t enough depth to the plot for my tastes, I still enjoyed it.
Here is my 4.21 rounded to 4 stars review of 4th of July
by James Patterson & Maxine Paetro:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
part legal thriller and part crime thriller
With the usual short chapters, this story progressed quickly with other members of the Women’s Murder Club putting in cameo appearances. It was fast-paced and filled with action. Additionally, it has a shocking twist that completely caught me by surprise.
Australians who remember the popular 1990s TV series Halifax f.p. featuring Jane Halifax, a forensic psychologist, created by Roger Simpson may be interested to know he is now writing a series of books based on that character.
Halifax: Resurrection by Roger Simpson, is the second in the series.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished Beneath Dark Waters, Book #2 in New Orleans series & Book #28 in Romantic Suspense series, by Karen Rose and loved it! Intense, graphic and highly engaging, it's another great addition to the series! 5 Stars My Review.
