If you liked this author's seminal feminist work 'Kim Jiyoung Born 1982', you shouldn't miss her latest work, a short story collection.

How to Summon a Fairy Godmother (Fairies and Familiars, #1) by Laura J. Mayo
As fabulous as the cover! One scene left me a bit uncomfortable, otherwise, I'd have gone even higher in my rating. A great option for cosy fantasy lovers, except for the animal cruelty part.

13 Park Lane by Naomi Clifford
A historical fiction based on a true crime. Didn't work for me, but so far, I am among the few outliers. It might work better for you, based on your reading preferences.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1426 comments I read Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon. It is set in Syracuse, Sicily, in 412 BCE. Two intrepid potters decide to put on a performance of Medea using Athenian prisoners as their actors. The novel unfolds in the first-person voice of Lampo whose unmistakable Irish vernacular would be quite at home in a contemporary Irish novel. The novel was an absolute delight and one of my favorite reads for the year.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1426 comments I read The Coin by Yasmin Zaher. It's about a wealthy young Palestinian woman who becomes unravelled. She lives in New York and is a school teacher. I thought it was excellent. Her use of the coin as metaphor was very effective.
