Abbie Saunders | 2 comments I read a book series when I was younger (2008/9). I was about 10 but was an advanced reader for my age so I’m not sure the age it was aimed at and I’ve been trying to find it for years. I can remember some details from the series but I’m not sure how many books were in it or what books the details came from.
These are the details I remember:
- brother and sister were the main characters, I think the sister was older and had an unusual name that I struggled to pronounce but I could be wrong.
-there was definitely a hermit who lived outside the village who provided wisdom to the siblings
- I feel like there was some Arthurian lore involved like a sword or magic cup but could be wrong.
- I feel like there was maybe some murders and a friendly giant of a man was falsely accused and the siblings try to prove their innocence.
-at some point I’m sure the river turns red due to a body in there.

Capn | 3506 comments Have you had a look through these lists already?

Children/Teen Arthurian: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8...

YA Arthurian: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3...

(I can pre-emptively rule out The Dark Is Rising Sequence for you) ;) Highly recommended, but not this series.

Abbie Saunders | 2 comments I found them on that list! They’re called the Abbey Mysteries! The girls name was Gwenyth. The buried cross has the King Arthur lore, the silent man is the book where a man is falsely accused, the drowned sword is the Excalibur one and the scarlet spring has the red water from a dead body!
