Read this book in the 70s. It's a short read and I think it was titled something like "Kenequhar".
Teen in radiation suit walks alone, others join, they arrive at a secluded valley inhabited by a self sufficient man. He helps them grow out of the shocked condition, they learn to live as he has been (farming, making pottery).
The man decides to venture outside the valley to check on state of world. Leaves instructions for the entrance to the valley to be sealed after so many days.
My grandmother gave me this book and I have since lost it. Would love to find the title but no luck. Help!
