Book where a character is warned about a man named Sir Percival

I saw a "pin" for this two days ago on Pinterest and it sounded interesting.

The main character is reading a letter from someone who is warning the intended recipient about a man said recipient is supposed to marry, Sir Percival. He has brown eyes and a suspicious past. The letter writer seems to want the recipient to stay away. The intended recipient seems to be the main character's mother.

Interesting! I did read "The Moonstone" by Wilkie Collins around eleven years ago but I haven't read "The Woman in White" yet.
