Byz Zii | 6 comments i read this book when i was in fifth grade, so it was around 2014. i can only recall a certain part in the book which is probably a spoiler. a boy living in a cave was being stalked by a jaguar (a big cat for sure but i’m not certain if it was that or maybe a panther or leopard…) and it’s a problem for a while until he ends up killing it. there was someone with him, a girl, i think. he cooks and prepares the jaguar and describes the meat as tough and not good. that’s all i remember.. i tried searching for it but did not find it, so i thought to ask here.

Rainbowheart | 28843 comments What was the time period?

Do you remember why the boy was living in a cave?

Who was the girl, a sister or friend?

Byz Zii | 6 comments i cannot recall any modern technology, so it would’ve been from a very long time ago…

the boy was either driven away or wandered away from home and became lost. i remember him being sort of an outcast and being considered weak in his community. the reader wasn’t supposed to think he could actually kill the big cat (he only ate it to avoid wasting the meat).

he had met the girl because of the circumstances. she wasn’t close to him, but they accompanied each other.
