Lol...Naruto Rocks! (Katelyn, Haku.) I can hardley remember this book at all, but it takes place in the country. I think there might have been a war going on, and a boy was the main character.
It was a childrens chapter book, got any suggestions?

Snail in Danger (Sid) Nicolaides (upsight) | 289 comments Perhaps Good Night, Mr. Tom?

If you can remember when you read the book that might narrow the field a little.

Lol...Naruto Rocks! (Katelyn, Haku.) No it's not that book, thanks for the sugestion though.

Christy | 41 comments Was it possibly "Brian's Victory" by Ethel Calvert Phillips. It was published in 1942, took place during WWII. Brian left England to live in the US during the war and was given a white kitten that he named Victory.

Lol...Naruto Rocks! (Katelyn, Haku.) No....no....but thanks...

Lol...Naruto Rocks! (Katelyn, Haku.) It might have had the boy look up at the sky and he MIGHT HAVE been holding a hat.

Snail in Danger (Sid) Nicolaides (upsight) | 289 comments If you think it's a book with baseball elements, it might be on this page.

I think we can rule out John R. Tunis's books. They mostly don't take place in the country, though a few of them start there or have scenes there. (Like The Kid from Tomkinsville, Young Razzle, and Schoolboy Johnson.)

Lol...Naruto Rocks! (Katelyn, Haku.) No, it's not one of them....but thanks for suggesting.

Maybe The Lights Go On Again by Kit Pearson?

Michelle (missmeesh) Sounds like the book you are looking for is Bully Boys. There is the war of 1812 going on, and he is a country boy who eventually has to join the army because of security reasons.

The Lost Prince by Frances Hodgson Burnett? It vaguely matches your description. It's set in a European-esque country called Samavia, and it's about the attempts to help the boy who is the rightful ruler overcome those who try to keep him from the throne. I don't recall any direct war scenes, but there are some small battles.

How young a children's book? If it was YA, possibly The Prince Commands (sorry, its not linkable here at GR) by Andre Norton. In it a teenager finds that he's actually the heir to a tiny European country and his Grandfather has just died and its believed that his older cousin--who had been the first heir to the throne--has been murdered by a bandit.

The boy heads off to his home country from the U.S. and discovers that there is a civil war brewing, people are conspiring to set him up as merely a figure-head and various other plots.

This was first published back in 1929, with several re-issues. I don't know if we are really supposed to do this, but here is the Amazon link for the book. http://www.amazon.com/The-Prince-Comm... and here is the link on B&N http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/princ...

It's here:

The title was slightly different, that may be why it didn't show up in the search. There's no description though.

Ok, I've fixed the lack of description. Sometimes its NICE to be a GR librarian. :o) Especially when you can go to your bookshelves and pull out the book in question and then type in the description from the book.

Teno Q. Yes, it is very nice to be a librarian. =D
