R14: SSS Team 1 - One More Chapter

Yes, exactly. But if that's not something you want to do, you can also read a series book #3 or #33. Unfortunately, I rolled very crappily this time!! I think I'm jinxed ;)

Awesome. I will try for the 4+ complete series if at all possible.

I've been meaning to revisit this delightful novel for ages. Tremontaine is a world I will never tire of returning to, and this book especially has been on my list of things to re-read since taking up fencing. Katherine is a wonderful protagonist, and following her training and exploits as a swordswoman has me itching to pick up my own blade and step up my training. Not to mention, having recently re-read my beloved Swordspoint for the umpteenth time, getting to spend some more quality time with its main characters was also an absolute treat.

Review: OMG! I absolutely hate this cast of characters! I am so glad to be done with this series though! The stories aren't terrible but the people in Silver Beach are, as always, unrootable to their very cores. I can't enjoy a book where I want all the characters to die violent deaths. I would not recommend these books.

Review
The follow up to this series just came out last week so I figured this was the perfect time to re-read the first one. I still loved it just as much as the first time and I still felt sad when it was over. Love Love Love! I want to move to Knockemount and be a part of this wonderful little town and people. Knox is definitely book boyfriend material. Cannot recommend if a cheesy spicy small town rom com is your thing (with a little thrill). Can't wait to start book two!

You can read:
- A series #3
- A series #6
- A series #36
- or - Alternate: Cover Item: Hat/Helmet/Other Headwear
Reminder: Completion reports are due Sunday, but ideally I would like to have them turned in by Saturday night. Thank you, Team!

#3 Kip O'Connor Mysteries
3/2/23
4 stars
Cozy mystery featuring Kip O'Connor, owner of a dog walking / kennel business, and his police chief boyfriend. In this installment, Kip and friends go a little too far and end up arrested. My possible suspects....very Scooby doo like. I hope this isn't the last in the series.

Sounds fair lol Can you do the next roll please, Denise?
Midnight Central Time is 8am for me, I won't be up yet on Sunday. Does anyone for whom the timing is better want to have a go tomorrow? On Thursdays it's no problem for me.

Okay, fair enough. The upcoming Thursday roll is yours then :)

I’m usually up at midnight central time but not always and I hate to commit to staying up late
Can we just go with once it’s midnight central, the first person to check in rolls?
But…does the check in need to be done before the roll? Does the roller also do the check in? Or would I wait for DL to comment that it is time to roll?

As long as all 4 completion posts are done, anyone can roll at midnight central. I can submit the check-in afterward. However, I don't want to keep anyone up later than necessary either. CST time is only 10pm for me (I'm on the west coast) but everywhere else it's late, I know. I could still roll on Sundays. It's just... I get worried I roll bad numbers lol

Would that work okay?

Ugh... good grief. There's ridiculously adorable, and then there's just plain ridiculous - and this book was very much the latter. The silly banter got very annoying very fast. I didn't care for any of the characters, though I did occasionally sympathize with Valentine - he didn't deserve half the despicable behaviour the excessively aggravating Tarleton twins (and everybody else, for that matter) inflicted upon him. Belle was the worst of the lot. I wanted to strangle her the moment she first opened her mouth - suffice it to say, the urge did not abate at any point. Quite frankly, the best thing about this book was the relief when I was done with it.

Review:
A well written WWII novel about love and sacrifice. Baby left in the hands of a railroad worker before being sent to a camp. The young couple then do all they can to escape the war and save the baby. Well researched but still found a few things odd in this story. Either way a good read.

Once the first team (Whoever that may be) hits Spot 100. So a couple more weeks maybe.

I missed this post earlier. Here's my thoughts: If you don't want to roll because it's making you feel bad, then please do whatever makes the bad feelings leave! That being said...I personally don't believe there is any luck involved with the rolls. It's just random. I'm not feeling any sort of ill will about the rolls. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit, it didn't even occur to me to check where our spot was in relation to other groups.

Review: Let's face it. The Love Inspired line of Harlequin books are never going to be rocket science. Most of the books are cheesy & preachy, but now & again, you find a good author in the bunch and Stephanie Newton is one of them. It's sad that it appears she is no longer writing anymore because she had a real knack for telling compelling mysteries and constructing believable romances, that are nice to read about, even if they're G-rated. This book was a good example of her skills. I read it in a matter of hours because I found it very interesting even if I guessed some of what was going to happen.

Cute cozy mystery with fantastical elements, featuring a secondhand bookshop, its eccentric owner and equally eccentric cat, a new assistant with lots of ideas, and a series of anonymous threatening letters. This was a quick, fun read. There's clearly something strange afoot in this bookshop, but as of yet, it's left up to the reader's imagination what exactly that might be... I'm definitely sufficiently intrigued to want to find out.

Excellent follow up to book one, Creep. This kept following crazy serial killer Abby Maddox seeking revenge against Dr Sheila Tao. Normally follow ups to thrillers are no where near as good as the first one, but this was a nail biting cannot put down type of thriller.

This was a recommended read from another challenge. Not a book that was on my TBR. It was very funny. There characters were not perfect, which I like a story. Their road to a potential HEA was rough. A great set of characters. I was mad every time life interrupted my reading.

Review: As my beloved nephew would say, this was 'mid'. I wanted to like it, I had high expectations for it, but yeah, it was not very good. The heroine's hot & cold routine was so annoying as heck! I couldn't figure out why the hero wanted her so badly when she couldn't make up her mind what she wanted on any given day. Worse, the story ended up being boring. So boring. I doubt I will read this author again.

I enjoyed this mystery...I just don't know how realistic any of this is, but...the book was entertaining so I don't care. The narration by Nick J Russo was good. I plan to continue this series.
