Sumayyah (kaatiba) | 36 comments Basically, what the title says. Other details I remember: it was a bunch of kids visiting a large house of a favourite female relative (an aunt maybe? Or maybe not a relative, just a nice lady?) and they went all around the house looking for the cat, who turned out to be in the bed under the blankets with her new kittens I think? It had a few pictures inside, in black and white, mostly just a few scenes here and there. Don't know how much help this is but the cover under the dust jacket was red. .....I don't remember what the dust jacket looked like. I was really little when I had this book. :( the title may have been something like "Miss ....'s New Kittens" but I'm not so sure.

Sumayyah (kaatiba) | 36 comments honestly not sure....2001ish?

Capn | 3506 comments It *sounds* like it might be a vintage book (mid-century, say, 1960s?) what with the hardcover, dust jacket and b&w drawings. Am I right?

Where did you find this book? Library or did it belong to the previous generation? :)

Was it a picture book, or more of a novel / early chapter book?

Sumayyah (kaatiba) | 36 comments It was a picture book in the shape and size but not in the amount of illustrations, if that makes sense? Still, there were no chapters. You're right, it's probably vintage, and I have no idea where we got it from or what happened to it. It was just on our family shelf until it wasn't anymore :(

Sumayyah (kaatiba) | 36 comments it isn't but thank you for the suggestion anyway!

Molly | 117 comments I doubt this is it either, but worth a shot! Annie and the Wild Animals by Jan Brett.

Zev | 361 comments This might be a long shot, but could it be "Tosca's Surprise" by Matthew Sturgis?
Edit:typo

Sumayyah (kaatiba) | 36 comments thanks all, but none of those. in style and content, Tosca's Surprise is closest though!
