I read this book as a child in like 1972
Plot: there is a young witch who is not invited to the party with the other witches because she is too poor to be able to afford a pretty shawl and instead stays home and does something nice but eventually she sits by herself in the woods in the moonlight and cries but because she doesn't move, a spider spins a web around her that catches her tears. When the other witches come back, they see her and think that she has the most beautiful shawl delicately spun by a spider and that her tears are jewels glistening in the moonlight.

Please help! Need it for a birthday present for my daughter!

thanks! -=Steve

The Littlest Witch

You can read it for free on OpenLibrary. ;)

“Oh, most old and wise witches,” he said with a bow, “pardon me for breaking into your magic circle, but I must tell you that all Littlest Witch has said is true — and that the spiders spun this beautiful web veil for her because she sat so quietly. The jewels are her tears — which is the more surprising, for we all know that witches cannot cry!”

It's not a party, and she's not poor, rather (view spoiler). :)

If you want to buy a hard-copy, it's best to search for it on Bookfinder.com to see the comparable prices. (Prepare yourself for a shock, though: https://www.bookfinder.com/search/?ac... )

There are some pretty 'spiderweb veils' for sale on Etsy that might make a good (and more affordable!) gift, for example: https://www.etsy.com/listing/92751459...
