Adam | 5 comments I probably read this between 1990 and 2000. It involved a brother and a sister (possibly twins) who were wealthy heirs in a dystopian future. At one point, they are hiding in an isolated place in the English fens while a powerful industrialist antagonist searches for them. England is described as a fascist/communist country, and they think it is the last place someone will search for them. At another point, they let a friend of theirs be seduced/captured by the antagonist who brainwashes her.

Alan (alanjc) | 486 comments The Marshlanders by Annis Pratt (part of a series of four books) sounds somewhat like this - brother and sister in the marshes in a dystopian England - but is somewhat later than your time period.

The only other dystopian book I can think of with a fenland setting is Futuretrack 5 by Robert Westall. The couple are enemies-turned-lovers, not brother and sister, however.

20th Century YA and Middle Grade Science Fiction

Sadly, no. Though a lot of books I loved are on that list :)

Were you in the US when you read the book?
