Miriam- for you I chose, from your physical TBR, The Great Gatsby. This is one of my all time favorite books, and one of the classics I had to read in high school and absolutely loved! I was just thinking about the classics I loved in high school- specifically, my all time favorite, The Catcher in the Rye, and a close second was The Great Gatsby. So I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! It taught me a lot about American culture and society, and helped me understand a lot I hadn’t yet understood at the time. Enjoy!

I am having a hard time picking a new book so hopefully this will help!

Hi Kailey - I read "The Great Gatsby" maybe 50 years ago and I agree that it would be a good one to read again. "Catcher in the Rye" was banned (can you believe!) when I looked for it at the Library and I didn't check again. Your suggestion is good and I'll go find it now.

Two authors I've been reading the past several months:
Jon Talton -- I'm not a mystery fan but his stories are based where I live and so I've enjoyed them.
Edward Abbey ( his most famous is probably the "The Monkey Wrench Gang." ) He has a way of using words so neatly that I go back and read the pages again to find out how he did it.

With my books, you might like the series: "The Alternate Safe World of Sanctuary - Revised 2022" and "Return to Sanctuary - Plague"

Finished If We Were Villains. It was okay, but I have read books in that same genre that were better at character development. I didn't really get the feeling any of them actually changed by the end.

Its been a while since I last commented here. I have finished The Priory of the Orange Tree - and really liked most of the characters and the world building - (view spoiler)[ but I was a tiny bit disappointed by the final fight - it seemed like such a long set-up and then a bit anticlimatic? (hide spoiler)]. But I did overall really enjoy the book, so thanks for picking it for me :)

Miriam - for you I will chose The Picture of Dorian Grey - because though I havent read it yet either, I have been meaning to, and would love to read it at the same time and discuss after, if you feel like it! I think it would also fit the House Cup Challenge pretty well - and October in general.
(Else, if you do not want to do that and would rather I pick one I have already read, I choose 'I'm glad my mom died', which I read at the beginning of this year and can definitely recommend! Would love to know what you think of it.)
