What is on your bed side table? 2023/2024
Spare by Prince Harry
In an unprecedented move by a high ranking royal, Prince Harry presents his side. This memoir will likely generate strong opinion especially if you're a reader from the UK or the Commonwealth. But I'm an American whose review is here ---

I just finished Donna Leon's Death at La Fenice (Guido Brunetti #1) To date, I've read all of the series published thus far. I'm looking forward to her newest, So Shall You Reap (#32) due March 14th. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Finishing off the week with
Murder on Wall Street by Victoria Thompson https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Torrent by Dinuka McKenzie is set in the aftermath of the NSW Northern Rivers floods, where the mother of a flood victim says he was murdered. Good story with a great new detective, heavily pregnant Kate Miles (as if she didn't have enough to worry about).
4★ My review of The Torrent
Just finished Victor Methos' PLAGUE and am now starting the second in the series, PESTILENCE. I found this author when I read one of his short stories in the We Could be Heroes book series, with several mystery writers' stories. So I went for his other work and this one I love most. It is about a woman Doctor who lives in Atlanta at the CDC. She learns of a virus infecting the island of Oahu in Hawaii and goes to get a view of it and see for herself. Soon the island is overcome with the virus and all staff are being evacuated to the mainland US. This story takes her to Peru where she searches for patient zero. She is with a few others, one from a domestic terrorist organization, another one of her colleagues. Let me just say this is a very dangerous trip in all ways. It has held my attention, read it in one day.
I just finished reading Wolf Pack (Wolf Pack #1) / Edo van Belkom, upon which the Paramount+ series is based. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it! https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...
A fun middle grade spy adventure for your kids and you.
City of the Dead by James Ponti https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My review of A Botanist's Guide to Flowers and Fatality by Kate Khavari

I just finished Charlie Donlea's Twenty Years Later. It held my attention throughout; however, the ending was a little convoluted. It averaged 4*s from me. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
London Rules by Mick HerronFor my re-read, I listened to the audiobook. It did not disappoint. Slough House is now my comfort read series.

I'm kicking off March with a slightly early review of
Till Death Do Us Port by Kate Lansing https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Operation Mincemeat by Ben Macintyre. After quite a bit of filling in the backstory of many characters, the plot is getting into gear…
The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman
This is #3 and it could be read as a standalone but why miss out on the preceding two?
My review -- https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A classic that I somehow missed! A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle has everything I'd have loved as a young reader: kids on a quest, a mysterious missing father, magic spirits, time travel, and Evil to be overcome! I still enjoyed it now.
4★ My review of A Wrinkle in Time
I just finished Inheritance Games #s 2 & 3, and I loved all 3 books. I discovered that #4 is due August 29, 2023. Hurray!https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...
Six Ostriches
is the next in Philipp Schott's Canadian vet mystery series. I enjoyed it without knowing anything about the previous book, Fifty-Four Pigs. It's an entertaining mix of ancient Icelandic sagas, cults, sacrifices... and ostriches.
4★ My review of Six Ostriches
Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard🎧 5-StarsHumor, romance and suspense - what more could you possibly want?
My Review
The Maid's Diary by Loreth Anne White 5-StarsThey are all baddies; the only question is who is the baddest.

I've got a record store theme going this week. Starting off with
Record Store Reckoning by J. C. Kenney https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finishing off the week with
Vinyl Resting Place by Olivia Blacke https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I was pretty sure that The Bullet That Missed would actually hit the mark. Of course I enjoyed Richard Osman's unusual Thursday Murder Club of elderly sleuths. Wonderful characters, actual danger.
5★ My review of The Bullet That Missed
I just finished reading The Kitchen Front / Jennifer Ryan, an interesting, yet predictable history of food rationing during the Second World War. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
By urban fantasy author Leigh Bardugo,
Hell Bent #2 in the Alex Stern eventually-to-be trilogy. There's plenty of murderous mayhem for fans of crime fiction.
It's been a while since I had read a novel that completely gripped me from the beginning. It only took 7 pages for Hell Bent to sink its claws into me.
I've got to look into the Grishaverse now.

Always fun to catch up with Molly Murphy again. Just finished the latest in the series -
