Reading Ringworld right now. Peggy wrote: "Gavin wrote: "Reading A Man Called Ove"
I found out today that there's a movie of it!"
Unfortunately not directed by Wes Anderson.
Six Ostriches
is the next in Philipp Schott's Canadian vet mystery series. I enjoyed it without knowing anything about the previous book, Fifty-Four Pigs. It's an entertaining mix of ancient Icelandic sagas, cults, sacrifices... and ostriches.
4★ My review of Six Ostriches
Finished When Time Stopped: A Memoir of My Father's War and What Remains
by Ariana NeumannMy Review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/5376738164
I gave up on The Return of the Native. Classics are a hit or a miss for me. I've started Dracula instead.
I'm in the middle of The Angel Maker, The Soulmate, and The House of Silk. They all have some sort of mystery component, so I'm working hard to keep all the characters and situations straight. I usually try not to read books that are too similar or in the same genre like this a the same time, but that's just the way it worked out.
I finished The House Girl. It's been on my TBR for years, and I found a space for it on my puzzle challenge.I will start the monthly themed read The House of Silk tonight.
I was pretty sure that The Bullet That Missed would actually hit the mark. Of course I enjoyed Richard Osman's unusual Thursday Murder Club of elderly sleuths. Wonderful characters, actual danger.
5★ My review of The Bullet That Missed

Glad you enjoyed it Dem. I remember studying that one in school, so good to know it holds up.
I finished Birnam Wood, which checks off a task for the yearly challenge. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...I’m also reading Book Lovers and listening to Give Unto Others.
I'm listening to Go as a River and reading Magpie Murders. I'm not far enough into either to know what I think, but I have high hopes for both.
I liked Magpie Murders, Tricia. We read it with my book club a few years ago. I hope you also enjoy it.
Aussie author Kerry Greenwood's popular Phryne Fisher murder mystery series continues with #6, Blood and Circuses, which sees Phryne disguised as a circus trick rider. A lady of many talents! Who knew?
3.5★ My review of Blood and Circuses
A Company of Laughing Faces is a curious and moving short story by South African Nadine Gordimer, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1991. In this, she captures the mixed feelings of a 17-year-old girl being pushed by her mother into the company of other young people.
5★ My review of A Company of Laughing Faces
I'm reading:If You Tell: a True Story of Murder, Family Secrets, and the Unbreakable Bond of Sisterhood
Memories of Ice
The Shadow of the Gods
The Wandering Inn: Book 1
Only the first one isn't fantasy, but all are really good.
I’m reading a book called More Than A Wish: My Life and Stories from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. by Cory Metz
Finished Red Queen
my Red Queen reviewI am currently reading The Soulmate and just started The Ferryman. Next up will be The Man in the Brown Suit for the monthly challenge.
The Girl in the Ice, by Robert Bryndza, is the first book in his popular Detective Erika Foster series. It's hard to believe it was the author's debut novel. Great read, with six more to follow.
4★ My review of The Girl in the Ice
I finished The House of Silk on ebook last night, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow on audiobook today. I was rather disappointed in Tomorrow. It wasn't exhilarating as the book blurb promised.Tonight I will start Mind of the Phoenix on ebook, and tomorrow I will start Remarkably Bright Creatures on audiobook. Both are for the puzzle challenge.
I have Remarkably Bright Creatures on my TBR and I think I own the audio. I'll be interested to see what you think of it.
The Secret Scripture, by Sebastian Barry, is the mysterious story of the most beautiful girl in Sligo, Ireland, who has been in a mental institution for decades and is now 100. No wonder Barry was Ireland's Laureate for Irish Fiction. It's terrific.
5★ My review of A Secret Scripture
I just finished The Soulmate
. It wasn't my favorite by this author, but I still really enjoyed it. 3.5★my Soulmate review
I finished Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow: A novel by Gabrielle Zevin - I loved it! My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...I’m reading So Shall You Reap by Donna Leon - her latest in the Commissario Guido Brunetti series.
It's hardly worth writing a review of Jane Austen's much-loved Pride and Prejudice, is it? But since I finally read it (for a reading challenge), I will admit it has its charms.
4★ My review of Pride and Prejudice
Ah, I remember the heady scent of racing fuel at trackside! Young Lewis Hamilton was bitten early by the Grand Prix bug and grew to be the top Formula One driver and a Sir, no less. Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara shows how a talented black kid made good in a white man's sport.
5★ My review of Lewis Hamilton(Yes, we need more electrics.)
Finished the latest in the Commissario Brunetti series - So Shall You Reap by Donna Leon. I’m enjoying this series. Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Reading Red Queen by Juan Gómez-Jurado and also started Arrested Song by Irena Karafilly.
Robert Dugoni's latest, Her Deadly Game, is a courtroom drama with a good investigative dilemma at the heart and a most intriguing solution.
3.5~4★ My review of Her Deadly GameIf you're a NetGalley reviewer, it's on NetGalley until 11 April.
A Tidy Ending by Joanna Cannon certainly has some strange, tidy characters as well as a strange, tidy ending. There is a lot of love out there for this one twisty mystery.
3★ My review of A Tidy Ending
I’m listening to Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. I’m really liking it. I’m reading Arrested Song: the haunting story of an extraordinary woman in Greece during WW2 by Irena Karafilly. It’s interesting so far.
I finished Red Queen by Juan Gómez-Jurado - interesting main characters. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I gave up on The Magpies. I read another of Edwards books and disliked it. If I'd realized it was the same author, I wouldn't have acquired it. I will read Loves Music, Loves to Dance instead. It has a better ankle on the cover.I finished Remarkably Bright Creatures. What a delightful book. I started Now You See Us on audiobook today.
A Good Man Is Hard To Find: Short Story by Flannery O'Connor is a thought-provoking and startling story that has nothing to do with someone seeking romance!
5★ My review of A Good Man is Hard to Find with a link to the story online
One of America's most celebrated black authors, James Baldwin wrote Sonny's Blues in 1957 about Harlem, drugs, music, and two brothers. Another memorable Baldwin story.
5★ My review of Sonny's Blues with a link to the story online
I finished Wonderland
. I thought it was really great. There were some areas where you had to suspend your disbelief, but it was twisty and I couldn't wait to finish it. my Wonderland reviewNow I'm reading The Last Orphan.
