I just finished The Bone House ((Slayton Thrillers / (Sarah Noble) #3) / Caroline Mitchell ... So much evil! So many scary things happening to babies and a young child. Yet, I couldn't put it down!

Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers
Is perfect when you want a heart warming mystery. My 4.5 star review:

The Matchmaker's Gift
by Lynda Cohen LoigmanIn this dual timeline story, Sara Glikman and her granddaughter Abby both feel compelled to match people with their bashert (the Jewish term for soulmate). Set in New York City.
Good story with interesting characters. 4 stars

I found the 7th book in the Amos Decker series a little underwhelming, Long Shadows by David BaldacciHere's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Seeing in the Quiet
was just sort of meh. My three star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Reading Flags on the Bayou
and finished
The Librarian of Auschwitz: The Graphic Novelhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read Orphan X by Gregg Andrew Hurwitz It is an unusual thriller, about a secret US government program to train assassins. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I've loved reading each book in Elly Griffiths' Ruth Galloway series, to the point that I've learned much about her chosen field of archaeology. I'm sad that the series has come to an end.
Acclaimed Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe is well-known in African literature for his novels and stories that include traditional tales.
Dead Men's Path
is one such very short story and is a delight.
5★ My review of Dead Men's Path with a link to the free story online. Enjoy!
Another top Aussie author to add to my Tim Winton / Richard Flanagan shelf. I just read
Limberlost
by Robbie Arnott, and now I have to find Arnott's other books!
5★ My review of Limberlost
While I was pleased to be reading another volume of the Orphan X series I felt it lacked the same punch of the earlier books. My review of
The Last Orphan by Gregg Andrew Hurwitzhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A Killing in Comics
by Max Allan CollinsFun lightweight mystery set in the world of comic books creation and publishing in New York 1948. I liked it, 3 stars.
I read Uncharted Waters by Sally Hepworth It is an Amazon prime short story, and can be read in a sitting. My review, 3.5 stars rounded up. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
All the Sinner Bleed
is going on my best of 2023 list. My review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Hey everyone,
I've just tried to post a new thread for the June nominations, and I'm getting the same weirdness as I got yesterday (a bizarre message) telling me that the page is not found. This is exactly what popped up when I started a new topic:
"Yarr, the page you requested can’t be charted on any known map.
“t would be a lot quicker than that if we could just sail straight there, but I was looking at the nautical charts, and there’s a dirty great sea serpent right in the middle of the ocean!
FitzRoy frowned. “I think they just draw those on maps to add a bit of decoration. It doesn’t actually mean there’s a sea serpent there.”
The galley went rather quiet. A few of the pirate crew stared intently out of the portholes, embarrassed at their Captain’s mistake. But to everyone’s relief, instead of running somebody through, the Pirate Captain just narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.
“That explains a lot,” he said. “I suppose it’s also why we’ve never glimpsed that giant compass in the corner of the Atlantic. I have to say, I’m a little disappointed.”
— Gideon Defoe, The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists
I have to say that this is driving me insane. It may be a bit late but I've been with support on this for two days now so we'll see what happens.
Sorry -- but this is waaaaay out of my control.

Now starting FOUND WANTING by Robert Goddard, another one of his stand alone mystery/thriller novels published back in 2008.
Cherokee Gold
Heist, lost treasure, Cherokee, Map and search for the lost looted treasure.
A 4 star reading.

Debut novel set in the Australian outback, The Rush by Michelle Prak is an atmospheric thriller that builds in tension throughout. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
All the Lonely People
isnt a mystery but has a twist worthy of one. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Murder in the Ball Park
by Robert GoldsboroughThis series was continued by Robert Goldsborough after the death of Rex Stout. In this book, Nero Wolfe and his sidekick Archie investigate the death of a politician.
I always enjoy reading about favorite characters in this series but the plot rates 3 stars
My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I do love a good short story. Alice Munro's How I Met My Husband, like her others, is entertaining and easy to read, but there is always more to think about - good for bookclubs.
4★My review of How I Met My Husband
Treacle Walker by Alan Garner is a hurlothrumbo of a read, that's for sure. It's a wild world of folk and fantasy packed into a short book that was short-listed for the 2022 Booker Prize. Loved the whole experience. 😊
5★ My review of Treacle Walker
PattyMacDotComma wrote: "I do love a good short story. Alice Munro's How I Met My Husband, like her others, is entertaining and easy to read, but there is always more to think about - good for..."I love that story too - in particular that twist at the end!
Plum Lucky
by Janet EvanovichStephanie Plum #16. I've been enjoying this series but this effort seems to me to be the weakest so far. Stephanie, Lula, and the gang (now including Grandma and a horse) go to Atlantic City. Kidnapping, horsenapping, arson and other craziness ensue. Sounds funnier than it is. 2 stars.
Deadly Fate
is a well done police procedural. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The 2nd book in the Burke series, Strega by Andrew Vachss is as hardboiled as they come, violent and uncompromising as he doles out his own brand of justice. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I've finished reading Grey Bees by Andrey Kurkov, a novel about people caught up in the war in Ukraine. So very good.
I finished Voices of the Dead by Ambrose Parry
This fourth book in the series is very enjoyable. Can be read as a stand alone too. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Last Remains was a fitting ending to the Ruth Galloway series. My five star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The 19th book in the Sharon McCone series and I really struggled to engage with both plot and characters in A Walk Through the Fire by Marcia Muller. Perhaps it's time for a break from this series for a short while. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Swamp Story
by Dave BarryIn this fun novel set in Florida, various people are looking for buried gold while a video of the elusive Everglades Melon Monster goes viral.
You can always count on Dave Barry for laughs. 3.5 stars
