Carol (carol07) | 4340 comments 194. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell - I've read this book 8 times. Scarlett was truly a piece of work. She was selfish, vain, self-centered, & very spoiled but I didn't realize the depth. The good news is that she grew(a bit) as a character. Very slowly, but there was growth. As a youth I remembered thinking Ashley wasn't so bad. Now, I get it. Before, I truly did not know what would happen after that last line of the book, but I think that after this reading, I ended with more hope at the finish and a sense of what will come. ***** 7/5/23
