Will we need to put the brakes on soon so we have enough book slots left over to cover the mini?

message 253: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Yeah, well, some of you are reading a little over target, so we're definitely going to have to read a few books that will only cover the mini challenge and no cards, but so far, all good.

message 254: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1019 comments Oh I didn't realise we could do that! Certainly makes life a bit easier, lol.

message 255: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1019 comments I think we should get bonus points if our animal is mentioned in one of our books.

Like, say The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book 101 of Chuck's Favorite Facts and Stories by Chuck Norris , in which Chuck mentions the Platypus :D

message 256: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Hahaha :-)
I would not have expected the Platypus to show up in a Chuck Norris related book. Then again... ;-)

message 257: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2892 comments This made me curious, so I did a quick search on my kindle. Platypus is mentioned in Extra Credit (The Ivy Years) by Sarina Bowen and in Magical Mischief (Magic and Metaphysics Academy #1) by Laura Greenwood .

And, of course, there’s always The Platypus and Her Wolves by Laura Greenwood !

Also works for a 1 for the title. We can use The for a 2, or ignore it for a 1.

Using it as a 1 finishes off another hand for us!

It's me. I'm the guilty one! I do have a cross-country move coming up, but it's been pushed back to closer to the end of the month. So I'll be more limited in my help for the mini.

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Attention Attention! :-D

The veterans among you have been waiting for it. The newbies may be a little surprised by it. ;-)

The February Mini Challenge has been posted!
You can find details here .

Read through the rules, take your time, have a browse through the tasks and if you have questions, feel free to ask in this thread. Most of the tasks are straight forward and those that may be a little more tricky have a little FAQ you can refer to.

And then.. then comes the fun bit! Finding books that fit the tasks as well as the cards!

If there are no more cards left to fill and only mini challenge tasks, that is not a problem. We will then continue reading for the tasks even if the hands are completed :-)

Eta: The countdown
https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

Books can be started at any point since the Uno challenge started, but only books finished after this countdown has gone to 0 can be used for the mini challenge.
Please add any possible tasks the book works for to your completion posts.

Ok so we aren't shocked I have questions right? If i am reading it right, the book needs to fit a card we have open currently and fit into the mini challenge? And the book can not be finished until that time is 0?

Yes, that's basically it.
However, the books can also just be read for tasks - if for example we finish all our cards before we finish the mini challenge. But as long as we have cards, books should fit for both cards and tasks, but that is also generally not very difficult to achieve.

I found an old Nokia phone in one of the drawers to use in the mean time but it can only call and message :D (the nostalgia haha). I had to laugh today as I was typing a message and tapped on the screen of the phone forgetting it wasn't a touchscreen. It happened before when I would switch between Kindle and paperbacks and sometimes I would tap on the pages of the paperback :')

I'm on my laptop now and saw 83 unread messages on this thread ! I'll post my completion post and then read through the posts :)

Definitely!
The hunter/huntress task Melinda just mentioned has also been claimed by Laura already (Guild Hunter), but there is a task for a character who fights demons or other otherworldly creatures or a book shelved as "Demons" - and I think no matter which Night Huntress book you're reading, fighting otherwordly creatures is always in there :-)
