Gen Giggles | 18 comments I am looking for the title of a book I read in the early 90s most likely 93 or 94. It would have been a MG or YA novel. The book was a paperback. It would have been a SciFi or Fantasy book. The main character is a teenager. He gets nocked out and wakes up in what looks like another world, turns out its probably the future. There is a tribe of people he lives with and the oldest woman in the group, a crone, might be the cousin he just found out was recently born. Once he gets back home he has scars from a lion/tiger attack and a carved stone he keeps with him. The end of the book has him with a relative at the post office mailing a letter to the young cousin. After he mails the letter he finds the stone is turned to sand and after dropping his pants, in public, the scars are gone.

Any help would be appreciated.

Michele | 2488 comments Hm, this sounds intriguing!! I hope someone can solve it because I'd like to read it.

Let's see if we can shake a few more memories loose. Do you remember how he gets knocked out at the beginning (car accident, skateboard accident)? Is the future post-apocalyptic or is it more like Brave New World? There are lions and tigers, so what country does the story take place in? Do you recall how long the book was, or anything about the cover? At the time you read it, do you have any idea if it was a new book or an old one?

Gen Giggles | 18 comments I remember the cover was tan in color but I can't remember the page count in any way. The future was more like he suddenly stepped into Clan of the Cave Bear with the old mystic and hunter gatherers. The paperback was new to the library when I checked it out the first time. I remember it being in the new books shelf.

Please mark this one solved.
