Dark Justice by Catherine Lee is the last in her excellent Detective Charlie Cooper series and has kept an astonishing surprise for last! review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished listening to Silence of the Grave by Arnaldur Indridason - 4*.A well-written, if dark, police procedural and domestic abuse situation that drew me in and kept me reading to find out who was the murder victim.
Here's my review of outback (Kimberley, WA) thriller Out of Breath by Australian author Anna Snoekstra. A slow build to a dramatic conclusion. A good read.

If you're looking for something a little different in crime fiction this might just be it; a school for murderers - not assassins, just people who want to kill their employer. Written by musician and producer Rupert Holmes. Quirky and fun.
Murder Your Employer by Rupert Holmesreview: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Torrent by Dinuka McKenzie is set in the aftermath of the NSW Northern Rivers floods, where the mother of a flood victim says he was murdered. Good story with a great new detective, heavily pregnant Kate Miles (as if she didn't have enough to worry about).
4★ My review of The Torrent

If the rest of award-winning Irish author Sebastian Barry's books are as good as his latest, Old God's Time, I've got some great reads to look forward to. I loved Tom Kettle and his story. Barry writes with an Irish accent.
5★ My review of Old God's Time, more than half of which is Barry's wonderful writing (no spoilers).
I finished listening to The Postscript Murders by Elly Griffiths - 3*.Part police procedural and part amateur sleuthing regarding murders of mystery authors, this book had likable characters but the the plot was a bit too similar to other books I've read.
