Got a "Wish for it" approval on this one. Tango 1-1: 9th Infantry Division Lrps in the Vietnam Delta
Honestly, what got my interest in this book was the (fictional) character Wayne "Purple" Hays from Season 3 of the TV series True Detective who was a former LRP.
You just never know what will spark your interest...

They must think it's worth it or they wouldn't bother, I suppose.
Kerry wrote: "My word! Authors still submit to NetGalley? Really? :O"Why wouldn't they? Particularly with fewer brick and mortar stores they need to get an idea of what a book is like from a site like Goodreads. Early reviewers are a valuable resource for authors and I've been told so by many many authors throughout the years :)

I'm intrigued.
I guess the cost is covered by the publishers, as they approve you.
Authors send me books themselves.
Publishers approve me on Net Galley
It seems certain members have more success with certain publishers.
Depending also on their success/ reading rate.

Thomas And Mercer seem to have loads of recently added title that are Read Now, if anyone is interested. They are a really good house. I’d be tempted myself but I’ve too many on my shelf as it is.
Having said that I saw the above post and ended up requesting one of the few titles that isn’t a read now. 😂 (Bone Canyon)

Enjoy, Sandra. I will be watching for your review. ❤😍📚☕🍪
What I’m finding really annoying at the moment is I have titles pending that were requested months ago. They have since been archived on Netgalley, so no longer available for request which will mean eventually they will be moved to my declined shelf, without being officially declined. I get that it’s a privilege to be able to read Netgalley books and requests are always at the publishers discretion, but there’s something disheartening about a request being pending for months, just ignored until it moves to declined by default. No email or anything.
I really wish there was an option to reverse the request for the user.
If you aren’t going to get a reply for weeks or months on end then it would be great to have an option to withdraw that request.
I’ve two titles “pending” but both are now archived on Netgalley so I have no hope of getting them yet there they still sit. One of them was requested last February!
Anyone else have similar happen? Sorry if this sounds like a rant.

The book appears on Netgalley, you hit the request button and back comes the reply that 'this book is not available to request' and that you have 'wished' for it. If it's not available for request, why is it there?
Sorry, now that I have had my rant, about the requests pending . . . This seems to have gotten worse since earlier this year when we all went into lockdown. But, I have recently received ARCs of books I requested early this year, that were archived, and well past their publication dates. So who knows what is going on.
Just keep calm and keep reading. ❤😍📚☕🥮

Yeah it’s been frustrating but it’s good to know I’m not alone and funnily enough seems to have spurred on my reading habits. I seem to have at least doubled my consumption in the last few months, going from a constantly average to slow reader, maybe a book every week to ten days, to two or even three a week! Unheard of from me.
