NetGalley Books ... Just Had Approved

"Sean, I tried to get that one but they said it's not available in the US yet. Seems strange to me as she is from the US.
I just got dissed again for Orphans of the Carnival. Two minutes ago. Lol. Doubleday doesn't like me. After being declined on EW, I did an early request on overdrive for it. Whoop-dee-doo...
I haven't been requesting books much but did approved for
. Jen my cover is different than yours, go figure. (btw I like your cover better)
Wish I had a thriller that started with an E. I do spelling challenges for fun and that's the last letter I need to finish the 2 I'm doing this month.
But who says I have to stick to ARCs? Anyone have a good recommendation for a thriller that starts with an E that isn't by Sue Grafton? (The, a, an don't count)
Eyes on You.
. Kate Whiteor
. Evil Games. Angela MarsonsThis one is second in a series, Megalion, and got 5 stars from me. . Best read book first one for the character development, but the plots are stand alones. Book one is Silent Scream
Thanks Christine! Need to mark all of these as E's tend to be more sparse when doing spell challenges.
Pia, if you are a Patterson fan, there is
. James Patterson. If you like historical fiction, there is also Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald.
. Therese Anne Fowler. that looks pretty good.
Pia, for X, there is always X.
.Again, if you like historical fiction, this one is about Malcolm X, and his daughter is a co-writer.
. X. Ilyasah Shabazz
Two books of Zeroes & Zer0es. Both of which I liked! Personally I can't recommend Patterson's Zoo.
I've got a hibernating read of Zoobiquity: What Animals Can Teach Us About Health and the Science of Healing
. Plus
on my shelf. I've got no options for X for myself
. 5 stars for me. I'll be piggy backing off your X request. Heehee.
IMO, X is the hardest. Q not so much. .. find a book that starts with Queen. Mine happened to be Queerspawn in Love: A Memoir
I knew there were several of these lists but this one has X and Z (and Y)https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
Quite a haul from Netgalley. I was approved for Baby Doll, Sweet Tomorrows, The Killer in Me, My Sister's Secret, City of Buried Ghosts,Forgotten SecretsThe Secret of Lakeham Abbey,Dead Joker
Yes I haven't been on this thread, but NetGalley has been just giving me books left and right and also "wished for" books. That's only today and yesterday's list. and I'm excited to read Charnel House by Graham Masterson from two days ago's approvals.
Plus I have been lucky in the Goodreads giveaways too; received two books today; In the Clearing by Robert Dugoni and The Curse of Tenth Grave. I think I have won 6 books so far this month! And I am one of those that never wins anything!
Christine wrote: "Wow, Angela, the rest of your summer has been planned out!!! Congrats on the haul!" Thanks Christine
Had my first invite which is really a decline of an UK publication being reversed as US rights now acquired according to the email. The Conjurer: Orion Chronicles
Looks like it continues with the characters from the earlier books. And yes, that's the Dr Who Barrowman and his wife.
Angela wrote: "Plus I have been lucky in the Goodreads giveaways too; received two books today; In the Clearing by Robert Dugoni and The Curse of Tenth Grave. I think I have won 6..."Wow, Angela, that is mind-blowing!! I have won nothing in 2 years though I try and try and try!
Approved for
Mirror Image by Michele Pariza Wacek overnight and
My Sister's Secret by Tracy Buchanan yesterday.Your approval looks good Zip....might just have to take a peek and push the button*:D
I already hit up House of Secrets earlier today, no quick approval. *sad face*And another fail on pausing between reads to write reviews. Went right from The Other Einstein to The Eloquence of the Dead (thanks for the rec Pia!)
Thanks everyone for the X&Z books.I think I'll go with Xingu or XO
X by Sue Grafton I already read. I'm a huge fan of Sue Grafton.
For Z I found Zaremba, or Love and the Rule of Law.
Zero K sounds good, but it's UK only
Samantha wrote: "I've got about 14 books I've been approved for to read. Atm I'm reading the good mother"I've got 70, currently juggling Helen H. Durrant - Dead List, William W. Johnstone - Ambush of the Mountain Man and an advance copy of Rachel M. Martens - Poe: Death's Mark.
I don't browse too much over there, Megalion. I usually am looking for something specific when I visit the site.
Reading All Is Not Forgotten by Wendy Walker, not sure at all yet.
20% in and very bored !
A slight improvement but not much

I really enjoyed it Sean, gave it a four star review. Not your typical detective drama which I found refreshing.
I had no approvals today, but 11 book reviews to write plus the reviews for the samplers I downloaded.I promised myself I wasn't going to have so many pending reviews at the same time, but it's happened again...
I'll spend all afternoon and half the night writing them, but my feedback should go up by several points.
Quick q: do publishers say why a request is not approved? By book's on net galley and some have been accepted, some not, so interested to find out how it is for readers. Thanks :-)
Christine wrote: "I only have 2 left. I'm reading
now, and then I will only have
left."You are pretty caught up on NG Christine, good for you!
I won't even mention the number of TBRs I have on there lol.
Nikki wrote: "Quick q: do publishers say why a request is not approved? By book's on net galley and some have been accepted, some not, so interested to find out how it is for readers. Thanks :-)"Berkeley kept rejecting me. They require you to have a blog with at least a 1000 followers. So I just don't request from them anymore. Most of the other publishers my requests have been accepted.
LOL, Angela!!! At least you have a nice selection to pick from when you are looking for your next read!
Hi Nikki!
Generally publishers don't give specific reasons why. There are a few generic, standard replies of rejection but that's about it really. I've never asked a publisher specifically. Just know that some of the bigger houses are notoriously harder. Orion springs to mind. Don't think I've ever had a yes from them.

Christine wrote: "LOL, Angela!!! I am reading four books at the same time right now all different genres so I don't get them confused though.
Ah, it's a 1,000 followers mark for them. That's interesting. I'll have to find out what my publisher's criteria is - ashamed to say, I haven'y a clue, although I've found that if someone requests my book, they're usually lovely at posting reviews. Hope your requesting goes well. Super to meet you.

Lol Pia, I'm still playing hooky on mine. Hope you accomplished your goal. @nikki, sometimes they do. Usually it's a blanket list of reasons. Which IMO is equally unhelpful.
A couple times it was a direct "your feedback ratio sucks" kinda message. Heehee. Not exactly wrong at first glance but they're not going to take the time to see the context.
I've gotten to the point where I don't blink an eye. If I really wanted it, well poo. Then I go request it on overdrive which means I'm usually first to get it when they add.it around release date.
Ooh... on topic. I'm very proud of myself. 27th to 30th, one request. One read now. Granted there wasn't much in the way of new titles over the weekend but I could have done real damage on Friday.
Ooo, thanks for letting me know. Seems like different publishers do things different ways. I know there's been a lot accepted via my my Net Galley book, so hopefully it's good. Hope you get hold of the review books you want! :-)

Thanks! A nail biting moment. Cracking reviews so far, so I can breathe. If you want a copy, let me know and I'll pop a word into Cara at Harper Collins so she can look out for your name. have a fab day :-) x

I usually don't check as most of them I've been approved for. Authors that I read regularly. It was nice to meet you too, Nikki.
Nikki wrote: "Thanks! A nail biting moment. Cracking reviews so far, so I can breathe. I try not to go on NetGalley too often so that I can keep by percentage over 80% like they want.
I've crept back up the waterspout - like the itsy-bitsy spider. I've hit 79% again, and with a couple quick reads I can push it over the top. Or are we more like Sisyphus?
I did seven or eight reviews this weekend, too. Took me two days--noon to five o'clock on saturday and a couple hours on sunday. :-| It's like being back in grad school.
Then I read a free book--no obligation. lol
